I always loved to create but spent 25 years in a corporate job that didn't allow much extra time.  I moved to Portland 8 years ago and began to paint, which led to lettering, calligraphy and chalk, then cement sculpture.  I currently teach a monthy Sip & Paint class and the feedback from my students has been very positive.  The class fills up weeks in advance and I added another class to accommodate everyone interested. I have found that I really enjoying teaching but especially seeing how everyone  paints in their own unique style and each one is different from the others.  This always amazes me and makes me happ ... Arts Desire

It seems like I've been making art (and crafts & music) since I could hold a crayon and hear a lullabye.  Honestly, I don't remember a time when I didn't think of myself as an artist.  I'm a country girl, so that meant 4H and the local grange hall. My grandmother and mom led us 4H'ers and every Tuesday night we met at grandma's for our meetings. Where we created, crafted, baked, preserved, painted, trained and learned from our elders experiences and considerable wealth of knowledge. All in preparation for that one week in August when our work would be judged against the work of 4H kids across the county at the Skamania County fa ... View Profile

Let's See!

I am an artist. At the risk of sounding arrogant, a very good artist. I'm mostly self-taught and I work passionately to improve my skill and hone my gift all the time.   I did receive a straight 'A' transcript in art, architecture, fashion, design and cuisine after study in Rome, Paris, London, Moscow, Sochi and Leningrad through American Institute for foreign study in 1976.   Twenty years later I attended Clark College. A panel of professors from the art department, concluded that I could do any job in the art feild equally as well without them teaching me a thing.  The head of the art department then, Warren Dunn, said ... Suzy Kitman Art Lessons

Suzy Kitman Art Lessons

Tutoring sessions in my St Johns studio provide a unique and focused environment for all ages to begin or to develop painting and drawing skills. Here are a couple of students commenting on their experience with me: “Not many teachers have Suzy’s understanding of the craft of painting, but what makes her unusual, I think, is her respect for you as an individual. No two people paint alike, and Suzy’s strength is that she doesn’t try to stuff you into a preconceived mold, come hell or high water. She figures out pretty quickly what you’re about, and helps you get where you’re trying to go.” “Her encouragement and ability to instill confid ... View Profile
