About
I have a very broad set of experience in photography. I have been doing professional photography for 15 years doing weddings, events, studio and family. I've travelled the world photographing wildlife, landscape and underwater. Each area requires a different set of skills as well as perspective.
I will tailor lessons to meet the need of each student. I charge $40 an hour for private lessons. Lessons generally go for about 1.5 hours each. To begin we would sit down and go over specific topics and determine needs and expectations. Lessons will be a combination of classroom and field exercises.
I can teach you more about your camera and how to use some of the settings to capture the best possible photos.
I will go over the necessary technical basics of your camera with you. The different modes and basic menu functions. I will also cover the importance and light management including ISO, Shutter, Aperture and ambient light. Once the fundamentals are covered we will also cover composition.
I also teach post processing. I primarily use Lightroom but I can teach the fundamentals of post processing using most photo editing programs.
I am very patient and scale my teaching to the comfort level and experience of my students.
I am very passionate about my craft. I love the art of capturing life in exciting ways. I am also very excited to work with others helping them to learn not ony the technical aspects of photography but to also help them achieve their creative vision.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will work with students to understand the technical basics of their camera whether it is a point and shoot, SLR, DSLR or Phone. The next step I will teach students how to apply the understanding of their camera to the environment and conditions when taking pictures. I will also work with students in composition. I believe that technical understanding is necessary to achieve the ultimate goal of creativity. Finally, I work with students to understand content management and post processing. It is amazing how post processing can help acheive creative results.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all levels of students but primarily with beginners.
