How did you get started teaching?
As an endurance athlete and Exercise instructor who taught everything from Spin to Cardio kickboxing, I needed to find a form of movement that would help me release my tight sore muscles and I found Pilates. After my first Pilates mat class I was hooked. I then got certified and began teaching it to others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of clients. I have worked with clients with hip/knee replacements, back pain, shoulder pain, athletes, Seniors and everything inbetween.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Since Pilates is about more than exercises and choreography, it is essential that clients work with a qualified teacher. In order for a teacher to be truly great it, takes more than training — they must also have talent. Good training yields a good teacher. Good training plus talent equals a great teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do they want to get out of the session? What is the ultimate goal? Flexibility, strength, pain relief, balance, core strength.
