What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our students learn all aspects of horse care including groom, safe handling, tacking up, and more. We welcome our students to join us outside of their scheduled lesson times and learn about working around the ranch and learning additional skills like handling our young horses.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been riding, training, and showing for over 30 years. I can help you achieve your goals in multiple disciplines and take you as high in the show world as you would like to go.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our standard lesson price is $50/lesson. Each lesson last 1 hour and we have small class sizes, rarely having more than 3 riders in the ring at one time.
How did you get started teaching?
I have taught off and on for several years, but really have taken this on more fully in the past 8 years as the partnership of Arabians and More has prospered and grown.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have all ages of riders from beginner to advanced. We are happy to work with children as young as 3, and welcome adults whether they are just beginning to ride or are taking up their dreams of riding once again.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We had a fabulous time at the Scottsdale Arabian horse show. It was very fun to watch the children experience an event on this level both inside the ring and out. It was also a great show for us personally watching our young mare win her first classes in western dressage.
We were able to attend RRP Thoroughbred make-over in Lexington KY with our wonderful retired racehorse Samendra and won 9th in competive trail.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Please visit any facility you would like to take lessons at. Observe a lesson and ask lots of questions. Listen to the feedback instructors are giving students and look at the horses themselves and their condition and demeanor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be sure to ask what equipment and clothing you need to begin lessons. Inquire if they truly carry insurance geared to giving lessons. Ask what styles and disciplines of riding are being taught and if these will meet your goals.
