About
Providing quality horseback riding lessons at an affordable rate for all ages! From beginners to intermediate riders I provide western style lessons. I work with all types of learning abilities. Riding isn’t just about having fun, it’s very important to know about safety. Lessons start out with basic ground safety. Grooming and tacking up is a perfect way for getting to know your horse. I always move at the student’s pace, feeling comfortable and confident while being mounted is an important key in riding safety as well. Once students are mounted we work on proper seating for balance, control of the horse and most importantly we have fun! Speed comes later!
We are by appointment only! This gives everybody an opportunity to have a more individual experience on our farm.
I love getting everybody the opportunity to enjoy farm animals. Not everybody gets the opportunity to spend time with therapeutic animals. I love what I do and I love how happy it makes families! I help students with all different learning types of abilities to accomplish their horseback wants and goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always welcome meet and greets for all new potential clients. We discuss what each client wants everybody is different (all ages). I offer different types of lessons and Farms experience, depending on what a client wants we go from there.
Example: A client wants to learn how to ride, starting from a beginner and working their way up to experience riding. I will teach them everything they need to know from grooming, riding, groundwork and care for the animal/(s). Every client is different.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been around horses and worked with them my entire life, once I graduated high school I started my own business Shelby riding lessons. I have been a barrel racer with the gcpra rodeo circuit my entire life. I have been an ambassador (Rodeo Queen) for many rodeos. I have volunteered at many local riding facilities, such as trot, track, angels and wings etc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lesson rates start at: $25 for a 1/2 hour $35 for a full hour.
Farm Time rates: $5 per person for an hour
How did you get started teaching?
Once I graduated high school I wanted to start my own business, so I created Shelby's Riding Lessons. It all started after my first intro to being a Rodeo Queen (ambassador). I had many people ask me about my horse and how one would go about learning how to ride and accomplish their goals. That's when I knew i had to start my own business and give everybody the opportunity to be around horses or experience the farm.
What types of students have you worked with?
All different types of learning abilities, all ages.
