What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually meet the client and have a complimentary evaluation, (mini lesson). If they have some experience, I'll have them hit some balls and make suggestions. This way we can see if we can work together.
A brand new person will get a 30 minute free lesson and will learn some of the basics. Again, this will see if we can work together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was in the PGA apprentice program.
I was trained at the Titleist Performance Institute and was certified TPI Level 1.
I was Director of Instruction at Arcadia Golf Course for 15 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lesson prices are $50/hr.
Lesson series $200 for 6 one hour lessons.
Group lesson series $150 each for 6 one hour lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I started playing golf in 1990 and then, in 2002, I started working at Arcadia Golf course. I was encouraged to try for the PGA for playing benefits and did so. I qualified for the apprentice program and the Head Professional, Russ Clark, offered an apprentice position at the golf course. I was his apprentice for 10 months and taught in the Nike Learning Center teaching juniors and adults. He left for another position and recommended me as his replacement.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught Juniors, adults and students with disabilities. Also,
75 juniors who went on to play for their high school golf teams.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions, observe the Instructor giving lessons. I offer an 20-30 minute evaluation so they can see how we interact
with each other.

What are your reasons for taking lessons.
Do you want to play recreational golf with friends.
Do you want to compete in local tournaments.
Play with business customers.
If you have a goal and share that information, the instructor
should structure your lessons to achieve your goals.
