Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first time we meet is really an opportunity for a new student to get to know me, and me know them. By finding out their background in health and fitness, having an idea of what their goal is, and getting a clear picture of why we have that goal is the most important. If we know why we want to change, we can more easily commit to the work involved with making that change!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been working on my own fitness for over twenty years.
Outside of that, I've been helping others with their fitness journey for over five years. I have a certifiaction through the National Educational Sports Training Association, a background in nutrition, and two years experience inside a fitness company building new clients and helping them achieve their goals.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My price comes out to a dollar a day for a fitness and nutritional guideline. This includes workout plans, and eatinig guides.
For one on one training. The price is a dollar a minute. With personalized attention, we can achieve more in a short amount of time.
How did you get started teaching?
I fell in love with helping others. I started working at a gym selling memberships, but soon found out that 80% of people who join a gym quit after 3 months. This is because, without knowing what to do or how to do it, most of them do what they know, what's convenient, and what's easy. When they don't get the results they're looking for, they get frustrated and quit.
I'm here to educate and inspire all peoples to accomplish their goals!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages and walks of life.
I've helped teens train for atheletic programs, and fight off early on-set diabetes.
I've helped people recently out of college lose their "freshman fifteen"
I've helped grown adults break their habits, and for the first time in their life, take control of their fitness dreams.
And I've helped seniors get rid of knee pain, and no longer need to rely on their cane to walk!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my clients lost over 80 pounds. She took all the knowledge we gave her, put in the work, and made a huge change in her life. What was so wonderful, was that members of her church congregation noticed her wonderful transformation, and she inspired them to finally make a change in their lives!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone that meshes well with you. You want to feel inspired to workout. You want to feel hopeful. And most importantly, you want to trust and respect the information they have to give!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is it they really want?
At first we may think it's weight loss, but what we really want is the confidence that comes after losing the weight.
For others, it may be strength, but really they want to ability to be able to pick up their grandchildren in the future.
Whatever it may be, take time to reflect on what the OUTCOME you get from accomplishing your goals will give you!
