I have been giving golf lessons for 20 years now, after playing professionally on the Futures Tour, the Asian Tour, and the LPGA Tour. The first aim with my students is to build a solid foundation of set up, grip, and posture. We then move on to the major fundamentals such as a one piece takeaway, weight shift, pivot, wrist hinge, and lag. As my students work on these moves I direct their awareness to where it is needed at the time, helping them to stay positive during the process of learning and ingraining the moves.
About myself: After 9 years at the junior level here on the local SDJGA, and 4 years of national junior AJGA events, I earned a golf scholarship to play for UCLA. My team won the NCAA Championship in 1991 and I finished 2nd individually. After graduating, I went on to play professional golf for 7 years.
I now get joy seeing my students focus, commit, and improve, their discipline reaping rewards and bringing them more confidence on the course.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out their background and history in the game, how long they've been playing, or if they are just beginning. We talk about where they want to go with their game, and then over the first couple lessons I discern their learning style. The lessons are then geared to a technical learner, broad based, oratory, visual or feel oriented learner so as to adjust the lessons to suit them better.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have extensive history in golf at all levels from juniors to the LPGA Tour. I started playing golf at age 8, local tournaments at age 9, and national junior events at 13. I was the Girl's Champion of the Year from 1986-1988 on the San Diego Junior Golf Association. I played on the national AJGA Tour from 1984 -1988, winning four events, being ranked number two for three years. I earned a scholarship to play for UCLA, my team winning the NCAA Championship in 1991 and finishing second individually. I won the collegiate Golf World Invitational also that year.
After graduating from UCLA I turned pro the summer of 1993. I played on several mini tours in the U.S. as well as on the Asian Tour one year. I qualified to play on the LPGA Tour in 1997, playing on it in 1998 and 1999.
