I LOVE to cook! And I enjoy teaching others how to cook because I believe that food brings people together. I want to share my 19 years of experience with my students and to teach them how to cook easily & effortlessly. I take the intimidation factor out of the cooking process and make it super simple that anyone can cook like a pro. My goal is to be able to leave the student with the right tools for success in their home kitchen, hone their knife skills, be able to read a recipe book, and most importantly for the student to be able to understand the fundimentals of cooking and being able to create their own dishes.

Decided to take a class with some friends to up our game in the kitchen. You think you know how to properly cook a steak until you meet Chef Brik!! Basting anyone? Who knew! I also never knew how to properly/efficiently use a knife to not waste time during prep; one of the major reasons I rarely cook at home. Chef Brik really helped me hone in my knife skills!! Thank you for your patience with me and for all the incredible tips! I will be back!

He was very informative and made it very easy to learn how to cook. I am 13 years old and now I feel confident to cook for myself and my family. He is the best and I want to learn more from him!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First and foremost is always knife skills to keep both hands safe. Safety is priority in the kitchen. Then finding out what the student wants and needs to be successful and then help achieving that goal. What style of cooking, what flavors they want to achieve and anything else that they want to learn.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am professionally and formally trained as a Chef. I graduated the Culinary Institute of America in 2002, and I can teach anything from basics to pro techniques. I have worked in top restaurants around the world and my culinary skills are very diverse.

How did you get started teaching?

I love what I do, and I want to share my experience and teach others how to cook. I got started when random people just started asking me to help them with basics and then it just boomed from there. I show people how to cook restaurant quality food, easily and effortlessly. I take the intimidation out of the fun of cooking.

What types of students have you worked with?

Anything from 6 year old, teenagers, and adults.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

It was a date night for a couple on Valentines Day. It was a lot of fun, and they got to learn and cook the foods that they love together and then were able to share that meal with each other in the private comfort of their own home. They were very happy it was a perfect event for them.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure the teacher is professional, they LOVE what they do and LOVE to cook. Look for their expertise in the field that you want to learn and that they make it FUN for you.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What is the teacher expecting to teach you. What's the teachers goals with you.
