About

We provide on course mental performance and training lessons (NOT Range Lessons) in Southern California. And YES, mental performance and training lessons are growing in popularity as both professionals and elite amatuers are seeing great results and increased success. It will work for you also.

We do realize that we are not the conventional business model for lessons, but that is what makes us unique and special. Many people may have preconceived ideas about what a mental performance and training lesson entails from watching TV or just their own imagination.

By using a combination of old school, and current data driven, methodologies, I feel we have a different approach than what people may imagine.

Systems like our have been called an "Unfair Competitive Advantage" and have been banned by collegiate organizations.

Be ready to work, getting better takes work and commitment. I'll make you work, but you'll have fun.

Range lessons will show you how to "drive the car" in a parking lot, we are the map to get you to your destination on roads, through traffic, with detours, delays, and potholes, while enjoying the drive.

You will be expected to work and practice certain areas of the game to improve your score.

We strive to help you lower your golf scores, we can help you with course strategy, decision making, and increasing your enjoyment while utilizing your current swing or your new, improved swing from your range lessons.

For beginners we will introduce you to the subleties of etiquette, fast play, being a good addition to a group, and how to have fun playing a difficult game.

After recently moving back to So. Cal., We have just started this aspect of my teaching and coaching experience after realizing that this area of the golf game is an underserved, underappreciated, and overlooked area of golf instruction, that can ultimately yield immediate, long lasing results.

"50% of the game is 90% mental."

I like helping people have fun and see success while playing golf. As we have started working with more golfers I have seen the competitive fire grow within our clients as they are performing the drills that will aclimate them to the pressures they will face on the course. It's fun to see them thinking, strategizing, and making smarter decisions on the course as they find a way to get the ball in the hole quickly, even after making a mistake that previously could have led to disaster. Let's make golf fun.

Ted made me aware of how to plan my shots and to use the course setup to help my game. This is something that I have never heard in my past lessons. Thank you for that.

I had my first lesson with Ted today and it was absolutely awesome. Because he is very calm and collected, I was able to show him my game and he quickly was able to pick up on corrections I could make there and then without too much confusion or pressure. We played a full 18 holes quickly and efficiently and I’m excited To hit the range before our next lesson next week to use and practice what I learned today.

Ted showed me how to approach the game differently, which made it far more enjoyable and lowered my average score. Thinking about course management and recognizing that you don’t need to hit driver off every tee, but to rather select a club that will compliment the rest of your short game in getting to the green was a better choice. My wife joined us, and for her being a beginner Ted really helped her with the fundamental aspects of her positioning in relation to where she wanted the ball to go as well as a lot of pointers through the day to help her improve. We would highly recommend Ted to anyone. He was fun, and helped us to relax and have fun to.

Ted is a great coach becasue he taught me how to stratigize on the course to really help lower my score. Ted coached me primarily with club selection and scoring more with clubs that I like to use. Ted showed me how to set up my shot for the next shot, we played to all my strengths and he helped me improve a lot by fixing what I was doing wrong with my putter. Ted is a great guy and I would recommend him to anyone.

What I liked most was the insight on how to lower my scores by playing to a particular yardage off the tee. I don’t have to hit driver all time and leave myself with unfamiliar distances to the pin but instead, feel comfortable with yardage that brings me consistency. Furthermore, Ted shares some very helpful drills that allows for me to feel more confident over the ball when putting. The 3,6 and 9 foot putts from a variety of areas on the green have allowed me to make more putts that I would usually miss.

    Frequently asked questions

We start with a consultation to learn about you, your history playing golf, your future expectations and desires.

We will recommend practice drills and areas for improvement. We will tailor the lesson content to match your experince level, from beginner and intermediate, to more experienced players.

A full round of golf plus, a distance measuring and warm up session, will be scheduled prior to the on course lesson.

We have a lifelong history of working with different types of athletes in an effort to help them improve their performance. It started with coaching high school wrestlers, coaching and managing youth baseball and soccer teams, founding elite travel baseball teams, operating winter baseball camps, organizing and running statewide youth baseball tournaments and now, after 30 years playing golf, andcurrently working with the So. Cal. PGA, we help golfers who are frustrated with the feeling of stagnation in their golf game. We enjoy teaching athletes.

The consultation, practice recommendations, warm up & distance measuring session, and the on course lesson are all included with the purchase of my greens fee and the flat lesson fee.

We have a lifelong history of working with different types of athletes in an effort to help them improve their performance.

I recently moved back to So. Cal. from Upstate New York and got hired as a marshal at an upscale daily fee course that has many idiosyncrasies that makes it very challenging for golfers of all abilities. I immediately increased my circle of playing partners and during my workday, I spoke with so many players that were looking for course guidance and help because they had already lost LOTS of balls and they still had a few holes to go. In each group, both friends and customers, I noticed that they were all, almost without exception, making the same mistakes, which was costing them strokes, balls and their sanity.

I realized that I could help them lower their score in a meaningful way and enjoy the game at the same time, no matter what course they are playing (and probably beat their buddies).

We've worked with both older and younger athletes in multiple sports.

My lessons can be adapted to all levels of men, women, couples and/or groups and will work in conjunction with any swing coach you may be, or considering, working with.

During the 30 years I have been playing (obsessed with?) golf, I have taken lots of range lessons with many different instructors. They all found the swing flaw I was fighting at the time and I hit well during the lesson and for a period of time following the lesson, but only one young man, at a world renowned golf acadamy I visited a few years ago, broached the subject of practicing any type of shot(s) that would help me lower my score for an extended length of time, even if I did not produce the booming, towering drive off the tee or throw a dart at the green at every opportunity. That young man opened my eyes and changed my golfing life.

Make sure, as a student athlete, you are open and coachable, to the advice of the coach you decide to work with.

We have developed a list of questions to assist in the discovery process to help determine a players needs and desires.

Based on your experience level, when would you be best served by a mental performance and training lesson, to tame all the variables (hills, slopes, water, sand, wind, grain, rough, elevation, other golfers) you encounter on each hole of an average golf course, with strokes that count VS. a range lesson that occurs on a flat 5 x 5 mat, beating ball after ball to a destination with no consequence?

Are you maximizing your opportunities and reaching your full potential?

Do your beautiful shots off the 5 x 5 mat automatically translate into a lower score and more enjoyment on the course?

How does a player look like a world-beater at the range, but then goes out and shoots 112, 102, or 92?
