Karen was my trainer from 2004-2010, when she left to join family in another state. I had shown as a kid, but had been out of riding and showing for 20 years. My daughter was 5 years old. When Karen began to work with us, we soon bought a 3-year old Paint horse, Simply Too Hot, aka Patch in mid 2004. I started showing her and by the 2006 Pinto World Show, we won a World title in English Pleasure, followed by a 2007 World title in Amateur Senior Showmanship and 2008 World title in Western Disciplined Rail. We also had a Reserve World title in Novice Am Western Pleasure and Amateur Showmanship, both in 2006; at the 2008 Paint World, we were 5th in Showmanship. As much as I won with Patch, the greatest accomplishments with this mare were won by my daughter. Karen trained Alyssa to to back to back APHA world titles in 2007 and 2008 (9 1sts and 1 2nd) in Showmanship at paint world. She also won a Reserve World title with a 4 year old gelding as a seven-year-old child in the 11&Under division at Pinto World. My daughter has gone on to be Top 20 in the nation with Patch, and adding another Reserve World in Showmanship, and twice with Sensational Ride, aka Simon. All of the awards are great but most importantly, Karen played a major role in shaping a young lady’s future. My daughter has work ethic, a strong love for the horse, and is now a responsible adult in college. Karen taught us both many things, and took us to heights I could only dream of. Most importantly, she became a lifelong friend.
