We strive for having well rounded equines with the basis of fun - no matter what discipline or goal. Our trainer, Matthew Walsh, enjoys working with "problem" horses, and takes pride in seeing a horse progress and be the horse you are dreaming about. Either in the show ring or out on the trail -- with a young, green horse or your show horse that needs a "tune up," we work with you, the owner, to achieve your goal together
North Star Farms offers lesson packages for every rider, on your horse or one of ours. We have private and group lessons, for riding, ground work, bombproofing, trail riding, showing and beyond. Whether you want to learn to jump, or just get on a horse for the first time, we are excited to help you make that dream a reality.

We set up your first lesson to gage where your at. We discuss your goals and what you would like to get out of our service. Then we make a game plan and get it done!
Our head trainer, Matthew Walsh, has a lifetime of experience working with horses.
Growing up, Matthew spent time competing on the hunter-jumper and three-day eventing junior circuits under his mentor, Jane Shaw. As he gained experience, he wanted to share his knowledge and began working at Jane's barn, teaching camp classes and lessons, and helping work with "problem" horses. He always has had a gift with animals, and training came very naturally to him. All animals, not just horses, respond naturally to Matthew and always want to please him. His training has stretched to dogs and birds of prey, but his passion is horses.
Matthew's focus these days is on developing safe and sound equines for all disciplines. He bases his training philosophy on natural horsemanship techniques, believing that it is best to work patiently with horses to ensure that what he teaches them "sticks." He aims to keep his lessons with riders engaging and also fun, because if riding isn't enjoyable for horse AND rider, it's not worth doing.
