The best thing about my work is being a part of the joy and personal growth that people achieve through horses.
Learning to ride horses takes dedication and persistance. As Ralph Waldo Emmerson said, "Riding a horse is not a gentle passion to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and once it has done so he/she will have to accept that his life will be radically changed."
We would love to help you realize your passion through horses!

Understanding my horse and me
Jennifer Granger is a fantastic trainer. Every lesson I come away having learned something. My husband, sister, and four year old all take lessons from her. She's great with all of them, and patient with my daughter. I went through several trainers before finding Jenny. We are lucky to have found her and her horses.
I've been with Jennifer for about 3 years at Rushton Stables LA, and I could not ask for anyone better! After a very long road with a horse I've owned for 5 years, she recently led us to our first blue ribbon win in our career together! Jennifer is professional during lessons and shows, and has fantastic help and other clients who are willing to give it their all! Jennifer creates a lovely group setting with all her clients being a part of the shows, even if they aren't personally showing. The facility she trains out of has a lovely covered arena and a few different round pens, along with great access to trails down in the wash and up in the mountains! She loves to ensure her clients are well rounded riders and are able to handle a spook or excitement, while never putting a rider in a situation they couldn't handle. She works with young children (even a 4 year old!) up to seniors of all riding levels. I couldn't say enough good things about the program Jennifer has put together, and encourage anyone looking into a lesson or show program to contact her!
First I like to find out a student's goals and motivation for learning to ride horses. Then I want to know about their experience with horses and the last time they rode, if ever. During the first lesson I like to asses the student to figure out their personality (are the timid or aggressive, fearless or fearful) as we meet their horse and go over the basics. While I try to match each student with a horse that comliments thier personality, sometimes that can take a few lessons to get it right. Once we have a good horse/rider fit, I like to keep the rider on that horse for 6 months - 1 year so the rider can build their confidence and basic skill level before I have them ride more challenging horses.
I have a 4 year Equestrian Science degree from William Woods College in Fulton. MO. I have been riding horses for over 35 years and shown horses for 30+ years. I started teaching over 10 years ago and particualrly enjoy sharing my passion for horses with people who are new to horses.
