Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We always start with a private evaluation to determine new riders ability and comfort level. We focus on the basics and will often provide private lessons in the beginning, giving the rider ample opportunity to develop confidence and strength.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a professional in the industry for over 15 years, as well as competeting throughout my junior years and at the NCAA level for Fresno State Equestrian. I am a big beliver in continued education and continue to take lessons and attend clinics with my own coaches, so that I can continue to be the best coach possible for my students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. Evaulation lessons are $75 for an hour and half private lesson. AFter the initial lesson we offer lesson package discounts at $215 for a package of 4 and $400 for a package of 8. Your first lesson can be rolled into a package if you choose to continue with our program.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always loved teaching and coached soccer and beginner riders in my junior years. I attended college with the intent of getting an educational degree, but realized my true love was with horses and that I wanted to dedicate my life to sharing my passion with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with all types of riders from beginngers to well established competitive equestrians. We teach all age groups starting at 5, and going into adulthood. We have a very mixed group of students. Most of our students are goal oriented, motivated students who want to see progession in their riding in whatever capacity they are able to participate.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We participate in the Arabian Sport Horse National Championships every year, and thoroughly enjoy the comraderie of this trip and the group of people we get to compete and partake with.
We also thouroughly enjoy all the competitions at our home facility, Galway Downs. This allows our riders of all levels and financial backgrounds to compete at a reduced rate.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise that student to try more than one program, and get a feel for what works best for their learning style. I would ask questions about their horsemanship, and their students successes. I would be honest about my goals, and ask how that trainer would help facilitate my goal
