Mark Moore Golf Academy

After having golfed in my younger years, my adult son and I developed an interest in playing together. But we both needed a solid start, so we did a search and landed on Mark Moore, Director of Instruction at Eagle Glen Golf Club, with 35+ years of teaching experience. Sounded promising. I contacted Mark, made an appointment for 1000 on a Wednesday morning, and we eagerly awaited the day. Marks message: Come directly to the driving range the day of the lesson. I will be teaching next to a grey canopy. He got my phone number and that was that.

Arriving at Eagle Glen Golf Club at about 0950, it was not apparent where the driving range was. We went to the pro shop to ask. A young man walked past us, and I asked, Excuse me, do you work here? Yeah, was his dismissive reply as he walked away.

We headed out and finally found a sign pointing us to the driving range. It was 1000, not a soul was there, and no sign of a grey canopy. An area was roped off and marked professional lessons only, so we camped out there. By 1015 no one had shown up, and Mark hadnt called. I called the club, and a lady told me she would tell Mark we were waiting for him. 5 or 10 minutes later, a guy came by on a golf cart and told us Mark is set up down on the chipping range, pointing past the driving range about 200-300 yards away. Didnt offer to give us a ride, just drove off.

After lugging our clubs to the area Mark was set up (now about 1030-ish), we saw it was completely secluded with zero signage indicating where a couple of new students could find him. But keeping our best faces on, we walked up and silently waited for his attention, since he was already working with two other students. Mark noticed us, introduced himself, said he was running late himself, and gave us a bucket of balls saying, Ill be with you guys in a little while. Why dont you go over there and do a little chipping?

Beginning to feel put off, but still hoping for the best, we did as he suggested, all the while he worked with the other two students. After 10 or 15 minutes of this, we picked up the balls and told Mark the truth, which was that my son had an appointment at 1130 and we had to go. His response: OK. Sorry about that, guys.

Wrap-up: If youre going to make an appointment, KEEP IT. If you cant keep it, and you have your clients phone number, USE IT. If youre inviting new students to a place that might be difficult to find, USE SIGNS OR BETTER INSTRUCTIONS. And if you mess all that up and cant deliver on the service youre being paid for, offer something more than sorry to the customer.

Mark is very knowledgeable and keep things relatively simple and to the point. He does not try to over haul your swing but tweak it to give you the best opportunity to improve sooner than later. I really enjoy my lessons with him.

Very knowledgeable and patient. Great communication style. He is teaching my 6-year-old granddaughter, she loves it!
