Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically I evaluate the root of the problem causing inconsistency or poor contact. After this evaluation is finished I speak with the student to confirm what their goals are. This helps evaluate how to proceed. Depending on the individuals goals we will begin to work to correct the root of their problem and deliver an understanding of ways they can improve their golf game to match their ambition.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a PGA member. I work tirelessly on my golf game and the golf game of others in order to grow the game of golf. I have worked for top instructors such as Grant Rogers the wizard of Bandon Dunes, Matt McLean one of golf digests top 40 under 40 instructors, and Ben Hongo the top instructor in the Hawaiian islands. I have spent several years instructing golfers of all skill levels and abilities, and feel I can improve anyone's enjoyment of the game through lowering their scores.

How did you get started teaching?
I attended New Mexico State Universities PGA Golf Management program. While earning my bachelors degree in Marketing I also worked towards my PGA teaching card. After graduating I had completed 16 months of internship at golf courses housing some of the most eclectic teaching professionals in the world. I have spent my career mainly working and teaching at Fishers Island Club in New York where I helped head the junior program and taught individual lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. My favourite lessons are those with passion and interest in improving. I have worked with scratch players and beginners. I only ask that my students bring enthusiasm and interest.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am hopeful for the future of golf instruction because those who understand the swing and how to play the game of golf are beginning to come to the forefront because of social media, YouTube, and results.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would give them the advice that not all teachers are created equal. Practicing the incorrect things can send you further down the wrong path. Be careful who you entrust your golf game to.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should simply evaluate what they want out of taking lessons. Whether they want to make their high school team or just feel they can socially keep up with ladies day. I want the student to have an idea so we can work with the time they have to help them better enjoy the game. If their goal is to shoot in the 60's that's obviously a different goal than simply feeling they have the tools to finish a round.
