Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step in working with a new student is doing a health and fitness assessment, and filling out a Physical Activity Readiness Quastionaire. This will help me learn about their fitness goals, schedule availibility, and health and fitness history, including current or previous injuries and/or health issues. This will allow me to recognize if I'm the right fitness coach for them, as well as start them in the right fitness level and number of day per week they need to exercise in order to achieve their fitness goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified as a USAW Level 1 coach, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, and ISSA Specialist in Fitness Nutrition. I also keep up to date with any research data, scientific journals, and textbooks regarding health and fitness.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I started at 24 Hour Fitness over 3 years ago. I started there in order to gain the experience I needed before branching out on my own as an independent fitness coach. The reason I chose fitness is because I enjoy helping and teaching people, and I decided to pursue a career in helping others through my passion of nutrition and fitness. It has been the most rewarding thing I've ever done. I see myself guiding others to their health and fitness dreams for the remainder of my life.
What types of students have you worked with?
Most of my students are looking to drop body fat (weightloss), build muscle (weight gain), and gain strength (strength and conditioning). I also help them deal with any foot, knee, back, and/ or shoulder pain they may be experiencing. I guide them through proper foam rolling techniques and stretching exercises to do daily at home that will improve their mobility and minimize their pain. I have also worked with students who are beginners at powerlifting and want to get started by learning proper technique, nutrition, and programming.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't fall for any gimmicks, magic pills, or secret formulas. The best and most maintainable results are slow and steady. All fitness programs should be tailored to your needs and body type, with tracking tools to help you eat the right amount of foods at the right time, and daily accountability to make sure you will succeed in the long run.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
