About

I am 50 year-old teacher who can help adults or kids or both. I love to teach on the putting green, short game area or driving range/TopTracer and then take these learned skills out on the course for playing lessons. I play to a 4 handicap and regularly play the Marin courses, especially at my home course McInnis Park. We'll incorporate video and YouTube videos when necessary. I try to make golf fun and would be happy to work with beginners, those trying to excel at any level or even just shave a few strokes per round.

Golf is such a great sport/game. We can watch our favorite pros on tour and then try to get out there and make some putts, hit some fairways and make pars and birdies. We never stop learning and improving. I enjoy working with people who are open to learning and who want to improve their games.

    Frequently asked questions

We'll meet and hit the range and practice area...then hopefully play a round or two.  I will watch and listen... then make some tips and adjustments so you can play your best golf.  We'll talk about the mental aspects of the game too.

BA from UC San Diego.  I actually played on the college baseball team and didn't get into golf until my 30s.  When I started I was a 25 handicap and worked hard to get down into the single digits. I am self-taught.  With so many lessons on TV, YouTube and in books, it's just a matter of putting in the time to learn the game.  The two keys for me have been patience and perserverence.  I have worked with a few students and want to take on more.

I am not a PGA professional, just someone passionate about the game and wanting to share some knowledge.  My rates wil reflect this.  If teaching in Marin County, I would like to make $50 to $60 per hour.  Outside of Marin, same hourly but with a travel allowance to cover gas, time and miles.

I just decided I wanted to teach and went for it.  I have been teaching DJ lessons for about five years now too, so I have teaching experience in another field.

I have mostly worked with middle school and high school aged kids to help them improve their all-around game.

Attending the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in 2019 and watching Gary Woodland win his first major championship.  Also, watching Rory McIlroy win the WGC at Harding Park in 2015.

Just go with someone you gel with and get a good feeling from.  Hire someone who truly cares about your development.

What do I want to accomplish from these lessons?  Eg, breaking 100, breaking 90, breaking 80, reaching scratch, making more putts, straightening out a slice or hook and hitting more fairways, hitting greens, winning the club tournament, making the high school team, etc.
