How did you get started teaching?
I got started from playing ever since i was a kid. I aventually got a job as a cart guy at a local golf course and worked my way into the industry. Ive always wanted to help people and i was always into helping my golf friends with thier personal swings, so that is where the idea came from when i realized i was actually inproving swings with ease.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages from 3-70 years old.
I work with all skill types.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently i was teaching one of my juniors where our lesson satrted on the range and ended on the chipping green. We starting on the range and i could tell he was not having a good day, he was having a hard time consentrating, was pretty quiet and was not into the lesson. After we went to the chipping green and we started a chipping game with a few other kids. A couple shots in he ended up chipping one in the hole in front of everyone. At that moment he screamed out in joy and had the biggest smile on his face. These are the little things i enjoy and that brighten up my day.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say dont be as picky choosing one at first because its all about the in person chemistry. Book one lesson with someone that looks like they would fit and decide if you would like to continue after having the first lesson.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think through what kind of learner you are, what your current goals are with golf you would like the accomplish, long term and short term.
