About
My name is Andy Gaither. I have been teaching golf for over 26 years and love what I do. I enjoy seeing students get better. In my personal quest to understand the golf swing, I know what works and what doesn't. I look forward to helping you with your golf game.
I use the JC Video Laptop System with my students that enable me to provide instant evaluation of your swing and recommendations to improve both your swing and your game. Along with this, I have the MEGSA (Most Efficient Golf Swing Attainable) swing machine created by Mike Bender teacher of Zach Johnson, Jonathan Byrd and other tour players. This machine works on every aspect of the golf swing and can change a golf swing much quicker than traditional teaching. People struggle to change their swing because what they feel they are doing is different than what they are actually doing. With the MEGSA, I can now offer a better way to generate quality practice every time out.
Repetition is the key to grooving an improved swing; MEGSA guarantees it in the shortest amount of time possible. 2014 PGA Teacher of the Year Southern California Metro Chapter Class A member of the PGA Trained and worked under direction of Jimmy Ballard for seven years. Jimmy was voted #1 teacher in the world for the 1980's by Golf Magazine and revolutionized modern-day teaching. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first talk to the person about their goals in golf, and then let the student express concerns about their present game. Then I video the student's golf swing and review it with them, so they understand what they're doing right and wrong in their swing. Now it's time to work on the swing and make it better. I will video them one more time so the student can see a before and after.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a PGA member and class A instructor. I trained for 7 years under the #1 teacher in the world at Doral CC in Miami, Fl. His name is Jimmy Ballard. I've also worked with other top 10 teachers in the world. I learned so much from them. I've taken some from all of these teachers and have formed my own teaching philosophy.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I normally charge $100 for 1 hour and $50 for 1/2 hour. Juniors are $45 for 1/2 hour and $85 for 1 hour. I have package deals where you pay for 5 lessons and receive 6 lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I moved to Miami Fl to work on my own game with jimmy Ballard. I helped him out with his golf schools that he ran, gradually helped out more and more. And before I knew it, I was teaching full time.
What types of students have you worked with?
From beginners to tour players. I personally worked with 2 time US Open champion Curtis Strange, Masters and British Open champion Sandy Lyle... most of the people I work with are the average people you see at most driving ranges.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I've been teaching a girl who is now 16 years old for the past 8 years. Recently, she has been offered college scholarships from UNLV and TCU. This is very satisfying for me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher with a good resume and experience and then try them and see if you click with them.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think about how good do they really want to become. Are they technical and analytical in their thinking... or are they more of a feel player. They should pick a teacher that matches their needs and wants.
