Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The initial lesson involves a bit of discussion relating to goals, previous history of lessons, any physical issues relating to the golf swing ect. I like my students to fill out a student survey form which sheds light on their current knowledge of the swing and game in general. Based on the responses I receive, I then formulate a plan to achieve those goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Associates Degree in Golf Operations & Management from the Golf Academy of the South ('04) where I graduated with honors. I also graduated from the PGA Professional Golf Management Program ('09) and have been a Class A PGA Teaching Professional for 8 years. Additionally, I hold an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh ('99) and a BA from Lafayette College ('94)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lesson rates are $100/hour which includes video anaylsis or I'll sell a 5 pack of 60 minute lessons for $450. I generally like my students to commit to a series of lessons assuming the chemistry is there following the first lesson.
I can do group lessons as well. Most pricing is available on my website.
How did you get started teaching?
I went to golf school in San Diego with the intension of becoming a teaching pro. My previous career on Wall Street I found to be unfulfilling and thought teaching golf would be a way for me to use my god given talents to help others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types and ages of students. I have extensive experience w juniors and ladies as well as the pyhically and mentally disabled including wounded warriors. On the other side of the coin, I have worked with good high school and college players as well.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Please give me a chance. I pride myself in getting my students to improve as quickly as comfortably possible. I garantee you will hit the ball better after your first lesson.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
You will get what you pay for when it comes to good golf instruction. Find someone you feel comfortable with and make a small investment in your golf game with quality golf instruction that is proven to yield results.
