About

My service stands out from other because I'm a boutique type of facility. I have five horses that I ride and give lessons. I conform my lessons to best fit my students. The first lesson is an evaluation and then I develop a program to grow my student to the next level.

I absolutely love watching my students grow as riders and sharing my love and knowledge of horses. I truly believe that being around horses and feeling their energy helps people mentally, physically and emotionally.

The best part of my week is my lesson at JD’s ranch. Joan is a wonderful riding instructor and she has beautiful lesson horses. I highly recommend lessons with JD’s.

Lessons are tailored to my goals. In my particular situation I am wanting to work up to horse ownership in addition to riding. Joan has a thorough knowledge of not only riding but all things equine related and is introducing me to the horse world from the ground up. She doesnt simply teach riding, she teaches quality riding with a fine attention to the details.

    Frequently asked questions

I start with an evaluation of the student and then I develop a program for the individual that will allow them to reach their goals and aspirations.

I have my Masters degree in Animal Science with a speciality in Equine Nutrition. I was in 4-H, on the horse judging teams in college and a teachers aid in under grad and graduate school. I have contucted riding camps for children and adults.

Each one hour lesson is $60, 1/2 hour $30

I have always loved to teach and learn. I started my passion for teaching as a teenager in 4-H. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion for horses with people of all ages.

I have worked with children as young as 6 to adults in their 70's.

I have two girls that have been riding for two years and they came to me to learn western riding and trail riding. We went out on a trail ride recently and the smiles on their faces being out in nature was priceless.

Make sure you find a teacher that is passionate about what they do and that you can learn from and enjoy learning.

Students need to think about what their goals are in learning to ride and care for a horse. Write down 5 things that they want to learn and set goals for riding in a show, parade, or on a trail ride.
