FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We schedule a special Introductory lesson and tour for each prospective new student to determine their current level of ability and interest and to better understand their challenges and goals. This Introductory lesson allows everyone time to get acquainted and feel comfortable with the place, the people, the horses, and our way of doing things. We talk about their interests, routines and responsibilities and make a plan for their lessons.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Helping horses and people work together successfully is my life. I have been involved in training horses and teaching people for many years. I am a Horsemaster graduate of the Potomac Horse Center, having majored in combined training, worked as assistant to the Director at Morven Park International Equesstrian Institute, and all along, have taken opportunities to study with distinguished instructors and clinicians. I have served as a 4-H horse leader and presently operate a United States Pony Club Riding Center.I have been a PATH International instructor since 1995 and serve on their Vaulting committee. I am an FEI level one vaulting coach and have a team. I am a level three certified ARIA instructor. I am host and coach to two IEA teams, both middle school and upper school. My masters work in pschology and counseling has been helpful in adapting my teaching style to different personalities successfully.
