About
As a golf coach, my teaching philosophy is built around the idea that making the game more enjoyable is the most valuable service I can provide to students.
I strive to provide lessons that are fun and not overly serious while still providing in-depth mechanical instruction aimed at addressing fundamental faults. While I don't advocate for a specific swing style or theory, I will guide students towards the swing model that best aligns with their natural tendencies. I also make sure that my students are able to stay in contact with me between lessons, (i.e. texting me swing videos for feedback), as I think this is important for maintaining progress and making sure changes stick.
I'm a scratch golfer with 20 years of playing experience and about 2 years of teaching. I am not yet a certified PGA professional, though I am working to earn that designation, and I have passed the playing ability test.
My greatest asset as a golf instructor, and something that separates me from the vast majority of golf coaches, or players for that matter, is the enormous amount of time I've put into my own game. Since 2014, which is when I started taking golf seriously, I've put in at least 12,000 hours practicing, playing, or studying golf, (something that was only possible due to working at an indoor golf facility).
All these hours of golf, accumulated relatively recently, have shaped and enhanced my ability to teach the game in several ways.
First, I can guarantee that I have struggled with, and eventually figured out a way to overcome, almost every swing fault in the book. Whether it's early extension, shanks, chipping yips, out-to-in path, inside takeaway, the list goes on - I've dealt with them all and have several approaches to tackling each issue.
Another instruction-relevant benefit of my personal golfing history is the fact that my knowledge of the game reflects the most up-to-date research and teaching methods. Add to that my extensive experience using launch monitors and other golf-tech to analyze swing data in order to provide better feedback during lessons.
I currently conduct most of my full swing lessons in an indoor golf bay that I built inside my detached garage. It's a great setup for teaching with a uneekor Eye XO launch monitor and high quality hitting mats. For chipping/pitching or putting lessons I can meet you at whatever course you prefer.
