What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We generally onboard new clients with a 90 minute evaluation lesson in which you and your coach discuss you riding background, goals, experiences and much more. We also do an evaluation ride on one of our school horses and then spend the rest of the time setting up our coaching  relationship.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

essica is the owner and founder of Mindful Equine. With 25 years of riding experience and over 10 years of professional experience, Jessica brings background from a variety of disciplines including hunters, jumpers, equitation and dressage, as well as polo. She received her Bachelor's in Animal Science at Cornell University in 2010 and has a Master's Degree from Cornell in Animal Husbandry. During her time as a professional Jessica has has the privilege to work with top equestrians including USET Coach Bernie Traurig and Olympic Medalist Colin McIntosh. How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching riding lessons st age 15 in New York where I worked for a farm that re-trained Thoroughbreds off the track. The rest is history! I also worked as a high school classroom teacher from 2010-2018 in California and Denver.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with everyone from 4 year olds during their first pony ride, to high level performance riders seeking top prizes on the “A” show circuit. We welcome all riders!

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

We are so excited to have launched our Women’s Empowerment Weekends this summer! We spend three days finding our inner power and connecting with each other and our order more information can be found on our website!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Take the time to sit with the instructor and make sure your philosophy about riding and horses ligns up. Also be clear about your scheduling needs and your goals to make sure it is a good match!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What is my goal for riding? Am I looking to be better connected to myself and the world around me? If yes, give us a call!
