About
The Sylvan Dale horse herd and I will be happy to help you achieve your horseback riding goals. We focus on western horsemanship fundamentals, equine behavior, and applying those skills both in the arena and out on the trail. With over 25 years experience in the horse industry and approximately 20 years teaching horseback riding, both English and Western, I'm ready to share my knowledge with you. I do have a B.S. in Equine Sciences from Colorado State University, as well as have been previously certified as a Master Instructor through Certified Horsemanship Association. Group lessons are only offered in the spring and fall, as our horses work heavily during the summer season, accommodating our ranch vacation guests. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I will evaluate their current experience level in order to fit them with the appropriate mount, and move forward with their riding goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Equine Sciences, as well as a prior certification as a Master Instructor from Certified Horsemanship Association.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We offer 4 or 6 lesson packages. For 4 lessons, the rate would be $155pp. For 6 lessons, the rate would be $235pp.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was in high school, I volunteered at a therapeutic riding center where I assisted with the lesson program students. I fell in love with the art of teaching horseback riding, and started assistant instructing before heading off to college. Through my college years, I took courses in relation to teaching, as well as became certified as an instructor through CHA.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all ages, from 6-86! I have the opportunity to work with all abilities also, from novice to advanced, as well as those with fears to conquer.
