"Dennis Murray is every golfer's friend. His laid-back and easy going style takes the stress off trying to learn or improve the golf swing. Dennis knows all the shortcuts to getting better at golf faster through his coaching. In 3 weeks with Coach Murray I went from 110 on my home course to 82 at Pebble Beach. He's simply the best!" -The late Glenn Frey, Eagles
Getting beginners hooked on golf and helping all golfers play better and enjoy the game more. The game of golf can be a great addition to a person's life ... an enjoyable way to spend time with family, friends and business associates. Golf can also cause a lot of stress and frustration. My job as a golf coach is to teach every student how to reduce if not totally eliminate stress/ frustration and enjoy every great aspect of the game.
I rarely play golf during winter. The TV telecast of The Masters gets me fired up to play every year in April. My first few rounds are generally good because expectations are low and I'm more relaxed. Not this year. After a few rounds of miserable golf I was ready to give up the game when a friend told me about a golf pro named Dennis Murray at Valley CC. In a matter of minutes he got me striking the golf ball on the sweet spot again. With Dennis Murray as my Coach I'm playing the best golf ever and my handicap has dropped 50%. Thanks Coach Murray!
My son started taking lessons from Dennis 2 years ago at age 14. He just shot a 64 in his first HS varsity tournament of his junior season. We are ecstatic! Dennis not only teaches technical skill, but also course management and class on the course.
Learn to play in a relaxed atmosphere. Really stresses the mental side of the game which frees up your mind so maximum learning can take place.
Great person to talk to. Knows so much about the game and is great at teaching in a way that is fitting to the individual. I play golf for CU and have been with Dennis from the first month of my golf career. He genuinely cares about my game and me as a person which means so much as a player.
We visit for awhile getting acquainted and discuss the student's golf history, goals and time frame to achieve them. A brief interview identifies the student's learning style, includes a skill assessment and equipment evaluation. Finally, we formulate a game plan for success.
Students have 15-20 minute warm-up session, followed by a 30-45 minute coaching session. Specific practice routines are given to student for continued improvement. At the time we discuss the Coaches Club, our most cost effective game improvement program that provides coaching sessions of .25 hr. and longer, with .5 hr. warm-up and practice before and after each lesson and oncourse playing lessons. Initial session is generally 1.5 hrs.

As a scholarship member of the Florida State University Seminoles golf team I assisted in the P.E. Department's golf instruction classes that included: Golf for Beginners, Intermediate Golf, Advanced Golf and Golf techniques.

In Colorado, Murray's students have won every CGA and PGA Championship. His students have been ranked the best in their age group from age 7 - 17 both male and female.
In 2015 and 2016 Coach Murray's high school students at Cherokee Ridge and Rock Canyon shot the lowest scores: 64/-8 under par and both course records in CHSAA 5A Boys Golf.
Coach Murray's students both male and female have been named Player of the Year in Colorado in every category and age group.
Also works with disabled golfers.
August 11, 2016 - One of my 16 year old students that started playing golf 3 years ago, recently qualified 8th on the Rock Canyon HS Boys Golf Team. In the first CHSAA 5A golf tournament of the year at Deer Creek GC he broke 70 for the first time by making 2 eagles, 5 birdies and a single bogie to shoot an 8 under par 64. He won by 7 shots and his team won the event too. Many records were broken.
Make sure the teacher has a background of success with student endorsements and that he/she cares more about "your" learning than they care about "their" teaching.
What is your background as a competitive tournament player? What tournaments have you won? What course records have you shot? What makes you an expert qualifed to have control of my learning? What do know about learning? Learning styles? What do you know about sports psychology? How do you deal with learning anxiety, nervousness, etc.
Tell me about your student success stories?
What % percentage of your students get better?
What percentage of your beginner students get hooked on golf and become avid golfers?
How many of your students give up and quit?
Have your lessons ever prevented someone from quitting? Have you ever given a bad lesson? Have you ever given an unhappy student their money back?
Why should I choose you to be my golf instructor?
Do you guarantee your lessons will get me where I want to be as a golfer? Why? Why not?
