I’ve been playing around with this game for 30+ years and this is the best I’ve EVER felt about my game. After only one lesson I’ve seen major improvements. HIGHLY recommended.

Jonathan is fantastic. I have been playing golf for many years so I know the game but I had never taken lessons before. Within a couple of lessons Jonathan increased my control and consistency from putting on the green to wedges up to 130 yards out just but fixing a few mechanical issues with my setup and approach. I have a few more lessons scheduled to cover the rest of the clubs in my bag. I would highly recommend him.

Jonathan is a smart and talented coach because he takes the time to figure out a tailored approach for each student. He then builds patiently from this foundation he has created. Excellent teacher!

Great Coach. I had zero golf experience, Johnathan takes the time to translate the game of golf in terms and ways I can understand and implement to become a better player.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I begin with a comprehensive game evaluation to assess your current skills. We’ll start by focusing on the fundamentals of grip, stance and posture which are essential for building a strong foundation. From there, we’ll gradually develop your skills, transitioning into Wedge swings and eventually progressing to the full swing Drivers. After our initial lesson, we’ll create a personalized game plan and set achievable goals tailored to your unique needs. This approach ensures that you maximize your potential and enjoy a rewarding golfing experience!

I first decided to teach golf full-time after moving back to Maryland from Los Angeles in 2001. Prior to that, I spent seven years traveling and competing in golf tournaments across Florida, the Carolinas, and California. During this time, I discovered that my true passion lay not just in playing the game, but in helping others improve their skills and enjoy golf more fully. Upon returning home, I found a fantastic teaching opportunity that allowed me to share my love for the sport. From that moment on, I fell in love with teaching the greatest game of all!
I have had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of students, including both juniors and adults. For me, age is less important than a student’s desire to learn and improve. I have also taught individuals with disabilities, including partially blind golfers and amputees. My experience has shown me that nothing can hold you back if you are determined and committed to your goals. I believe that everyone has the potential to succeed in golf, regardless of their background or challenges!
Recently, I’ve been reflecting on how my golf game continues to improve with age, much like Phil Mickelson's remarkable journey. At 50 years old, Mickelson made history by winning the 2021 PGA Championship, becoming the oldest golfer to ever secure a major title. This victory not only showcased his incredible skill but also served as a powerful reminder that hard work and determination can lead to extraordinary achievements at any age. Mickelson's triumph at Kiawah Island was particularly inspiring, as he demonstrated resilience and focus throughout the tournament. Despite facing challenges, he maintained his composure and ultimately finished with a score of six under par, two strokes ahead of his competitors. His victory resonated with many, proving that age is just a number and that passion for the game can drive success. This event has motivated me and countless others to embrace our love for golf, regardless of age or obstacles. Phil Mickelson's journey continues to inspire golfers at all levels to believe in their potential and strive for greatness!
Here's some advice I would give to a student looking to hire a golf instructor: Experience and Credentials: Look for an instructor with solid experience and relevant certifications, such as PGA membership or other recognized teaching credentials. However, remember that experience alone doesn't guarantee quality instruction. Teaching Philosophy: Ask about their teaching approach. A good instructor should be able to adapt their methods to suit your learning style and goals. Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial. The instructor should be able to explain concepts clearly and provide constructive feedback in a way you can understand and apply. Personality Fit: You'll be spending time together, so it's important that you feel comfortable with your instructor's personality and teaching style. Technology Use: Many modern instructors use video analysis and other tech tools. If this interests you, ask about their approach to using technology in lessons. Availability and Location: Consider the instructor's schedule and teaching location. Ensure it aligns with your availability and is convenient for regular lessons. Student Success Stories: Ask for references or examples of student success. This can give you insight into their teaching effectiveness. Specialization: If you have specific goals (e.g., improving your short game), look for an instructor who specializes in that area. Initial Consultation: Many instructors offer a brief initial meeting or lesson. Use this opportunity to assess if they're the right fit for you. Ongoing Development Plan: A good instructor should be able to outline a development plan tailored to your goals and skill level. Remember, the best instructor for you is one who not only has the knowledge and skills but also connects with you personally and understands your golfing aspirations. Don't hesitate to try a few different instructors before committing to ensure you find the best match for your needs.
Here are some questions students should consider before discussing their needs with golf instructors: What are my specific goals? (e.g., lowering handicap, improving short game) What is my current skill level, and what areas need work? What is my preferred learning style? (hands-on, video analysis, etc.) How much time and money can I invest in lessons? What type of instructor fits my personality and goals? (patient, technical, motivational) Do I prefer individual or group lessons? What facilities and technology does the instructor use? (launch monitors, practice areas) What is the instructor's teaching philosophy? What is their background and experience with students at my level? How will progress be tracked over time? What practice plan will I receive between lessons? How flexible is the instructor's schedule? Reflecting on these questions will help you find the right instructor to meet your needs and enhance your golfing journey!
