Mindfulness Meditation Instruction
About
I am grateful for the opportunity to share the practice of meditation. To me, the power of meditation practice is in developing a profoundly sympathetic relationship with ourselves and our circumstances. Nurturing fundamental human qualities of attention, care, and connection allows us to live more open, peaceful, and accepting lives. By giving ourselves time to be still and developing the capacity to stay with whatever arises, we discover natural wisdom and strength. My sessions emphasize embodiment as a foundation of mindfulness, and include body scans and additional practices such as lovingkindness meditation, along with guided mindfulness-awareness practice.
I am certified as a Mindfulness Teacher by the Engaged Mindfulness Institute (EMI: engagedmindfulness.org) and by the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA: imta.org)
I have cultivated a personal meditation practice for 20 years. My professional and organizational background is also helpful in bringing real-world experience to the practice; I aspire to help you bring your mindfulness into everyday life.

Most of all, the connection with meditation students is so rewarding. To able to take part in their exploration of the many aspects of their own wisdom and kindness is an honor.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to have an initial conversation with students to discuss their understanding of mindfulness meditation, and to discern why they are interested in learning to meditate. From this conversation, we can decide on the best format and frequency for our sessions—my goal is to respond to the need of the student, and to provide authentic instruction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a meditator for 20 years, and have completed the 2-year, 500-hour mindfulness teacher certification course at the Engaged Mindfulness Institute in Deerfield, MA.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is based on hourly instruction ($50/hour; travel time $25/hour), with additional time for curriculum preparation at $35/hour, depending on the requirements of the contract. After an initial needs assessment (gratis), I will present a comprehensive cost proposal covering the agreed-upon services.
How did you get started teaching?
My inclination to teach meditation grew out of my own practice, and the positive effects I witnessed in my own life. After providing meditation instruction within a the context of a spiritual community (Shambhala International) for several years, I decided to seek out training from the Engaged Mindfulness Institute for offering the practice in a wider, secular context.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students and a range of ages—elementary and high school students to adult and elderly—and with individuals in assistive/supportive housing (transitioning from homelessness).
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In one small class, we discovered that our birthdays were close together on the calendar. The students organized a modest celebration, with cards, cupcakes, and decorations. It was lovely!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
First and foremost, find a teacher who practices meditation, and be open to their experience. You will learn as much or more from time spent with a seasoned practitioner as from any of the techniques they can impart.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is my understanding of meditation?
What is my motivation for learning to meditate?
What benefits do I expect?
To what degree can I commit to practicing meditation regularly?
