FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Lesson structure varies depending on age and level of student. For all players I focus on the fundamentals (grip, stance, alignment, backswing, and follow through). With juniors I feel you have to keep it fun for them or else you lose there focus. For a beginner, I emphasize how important these fundamentals are and try not to get too technical. For the more advanced golfer, I start my lessons with a video analysis and determine where his or her swing faults are. After that I talk with the student to determine what their goals are and work out a plan from there. My goal for every lesson is for the student to leave with one or two things he or she needs to work on to get better.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are your goals? How much time do you have to dedicate to improving? Any past injuries that we may have to alter your swing for?
