My typical new client or student routine varies. I like to always go over the proper grip stance and set up. After that I like to see everyone's limitations. What I like to do is I will break your swing down and rebuild it back up all in the same Session. What we try to do at Scott Matuza Golf is we find something that's easy for that student to relate to in their swing. Then there are so many analogies that I will play off in my head an break it down for each student to relate in order to understand and can deliver once I put the golf club back in your hands. That's why I say I am a tough swing coach because I expect my students to practice an I will know if your not cause we should always be improving not always going over the same things.

Been playing this game for 40+ years already. Played collegiate golf at NCC & JWU having the pleasure of feeling what winning a National Title felt like. After college I turned professional in 2005 then tried my luck on the mini tour circuit before realizing my talent + passion for instructing. Since then I have created my own unique style of teaching. I was known on the mini tours for my wedge game & short game so I boast those two things hugely amongst my clients. They call me the Short Game Guru. The next is course management. I feel with my set of skills an the knowledge from past experiences I can help anyone learn what needs to be learned in order to lower their scores an gain that certain mind game that this great game of Golf requires. Especially with still having a bunker in my backyard for everyday practicing. Distance is great but your short game makes you the player you are today and will become.

I include all the costs of practice balls for our Lessons. My regular price is $150.00 per lesson. This also is depending on what you the client is looking for exactly. This is so people know I am serious on the value of my time w/ my clients.. All my multiple lesson series are spread out to fit your specific wants & needs to make sure you’re always improving. So we will always have options. I really like to customize everything to each specific player. As I said earlier I am a Touch, Feel & Tough coach, I just want you all to improve a make sure your always learning so that your not wasting your money or your time an my time.

I started teaching and instructing top players because I was trying to become one. My wake up call came back in 2008 season when I failed to make a cut after posting -10 In that moment I knew I was a great player but just wasn't going to the next level so I had to decide on my direction. So I took a step back an asked a lot of my close friends on the PGA Tour and took all that information from them an later decided that becoming a short game coach & helping everyone get that same understanding that we have and that same passion for that game that was instilled in us good players a long time ago.

I instruct every type of player. The better of player the harder coach I will become. I demand improvement or I have multiple colleagues out there that would love to steal your money a not show you anything like they do. My players range from Senior PGA Tour, PGA Tour, LPGA Tour & a little more on the multiple Mini Tours with a few college and High School players. Then I really love to teach all my clients learning the game from the start since there are so many ways to get them to learn since I still work with the top level pros in our industry. I love the multiple levels of players since I play with a couple current tour players when they're in town. Everyone loves when the TUZ gets going on there short game issues.

As well as owning my golf academy I am also a PGA TOUR REP for Garsen Golf Putter Grips. We have Stenson, Tony Finau, Corey Connors, Chris Kirk & Lydia Ko to name a few on our team. It’s amazing being around these top players a maintaining a relationship with all the other professionals & amateurs.

What are they looking to get out of a private or group lessons with your private swing coach. What are your personal goals. And be honest with your goals and expectations of what you want to get out of a private coach. I will always tell my clients I can tell If they're practicing or not. Reason being most Pros won't tell you this. I for one don't sugar coat anything which is good & bad. But most good coaches can teach one thing 10 different ways. The key to a good coach is watching all of your improvements non improvements. This keeps your coach making sure your always improving because if your not then again your wasting your time & money.

You want to see what area or areas of your game must improve. Then I for one being your coach will look at your entire game from the ground up as well to see what needs the most work. I prefer to work on your Short Game (Putting, Chipping, then Sand play in the beginning to a build your FEEL GAME. After that is created we can work that FEEL through the rest of your bag. Helping you have a game only you know how it works. Since your FEEL & SHORT GAME are the most important areas to concentrate on. Think about it if you hit the long ball but have no control or say you do, when you get into the scoring area of your game. Starting with the Irons & Wedges this is where you need to preform in order to shoot lower scores. Your coach doesn't hit it that long, but inside 160yds you don't stand a chance. Especially on the greens with the Garsen Golf technology I play, It's completely different once you feel what I feel. That's what I think everyone should be working on. Look at the top 10 players on any tour. Then ask me a question cause 90% of them have exceptional FEEL & SHORT GAMES + they are solid with that 7iron to the putter. That’s where this game is played from to create the players we have today.
