I have been giving instruction since 1998 in Western Pleasure/Equitation/Trail and English Pleasure/Equitation/Trail, Eventing, Jumper, Hunter Jumper and Dressage. I have taught ages 2-90 and let tge student choose weather they would like to show or not.
My style is a little more old fashioned as my student's are required to learn how to work their horse on the ground prior to learning how to ride. A horse will not respect you in the saddle if he/she does not respect you on the ground. I also teach all of my students how to care for their horse and tack; and if they would like, I will teach how to give injections and trim thier hooves. On top of that they learn bareback riding skills and how to move their horse and stop him without any tack on.
I am both kind but strict, this being said; I will not allow parents who are backsaddle riders to hang around for their child's class if they continue to speak over me. I expect my student's to be on time but am understanding when situations arise. Getting carried away with a lesson and going over time is one of my down falls so I make sure to leave plenty of room between lessons in case this happens. If your lesson is running over time you will not be charged extra.
I love to help build confidence and self esteem through riding and teaching various skills. Seeing my student's and horses enjoying themselves in every aspect of what they're being taught makes me happy.
Watching my student's grow, learn, and want to advance to higher goals is one of my aspirations in life.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
No student is typical. This can very greatly.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have owned and ridden horses my whole life; showing in both English and Western disciplines. I have recieved many ribbons and trophies including 23 Grand Champion, 13 Reserved Grand Champion, 17 High Point, several 1st, 2nd, etc ribbons that I have lost count of. I trained under 2 instructors (Western Pleasure/Equitation/Trail/Games and English Pleasure/Equitation/Dressage up to level 3/Hunter Jumper/Jumper/ Eventing) as an understudy for 2 years.

$25 hr per person for group lessons once weekly (never more then 3 at a time)
$40 hr private lessons once weekly
All students will have one practice ride per week; once they are to a point where they do not need me to watch them for the hour that they ride. This is not something most instructors include in their services. I will have a sign up sheet encouraging students to come and ride for practice on non-lesson days; this helps built confidence, trust and a better understanding of your own skills and what your horse may try to pull off without me around. It's also fun to ride with family or friends that are taking lessons.
Practice makes perfect; or at least helps to improve your skills as a rider. On these days you will be required to clean your horse's stall/paddock, fill their water and groom your horse before and after your ride. That is your payment for using said horse for the day.
