About
Hi, Im John Masters & I am not your typical Golf Instructor. I am an Atlanta entrepreneur and I do not teach golf for a living. This not only allows me to charge less for lessons but also gives me time to play, understand & refine my own Golf game on a continual basis so that my information can be easily communicated to the student.
I do not teach a particular Golf method as I prefer to impart information based on the students particular needs and not a standardized movement which may lead to general understanding but not to the specific physical application of Golf swing techniques.
I believe that knowledge & understanding are the keys to good shot making, followed closely by hard work & practice.
I also believe that success in Golf is totally dependent on the golfers dedication to the process of learning and then the immediate application of that knowledge in the real world. In other words: The best way to get better at Golf is to Play Golf.
I can CHARGE LESS & give more attention to each student than other Golf Professionals as a result of my autonomous business structure.
I am more interested in your Golf than your money!
John Masters
I am 51 years old & have been playing golf for over 25 years.
I have worked at 7 local Atlanta golf courses over the years in exchange for playing priveledges and remember the day that I realized that I enjoyed helping people with Golf as much as I enjoyed Playing.
I build all of my own golf clubs and am happy to help with yours.
I use the Driving Range occasionally to fix issues, groove new swing patterns & Teach Golf but I think the average golfer spends too much time at the driving range and not nearly enough time on the Golf Course.
I have a 2 acre practice area at home for daily short-game practice.
I think that Video Swing Analysis is well over-used by modern golf instructors and comes at the cost of "Feel"
I think most golfers learn how to play golf with an open club face and spend the rest of their life trying to close it.
I support the PGA Professional Golf Management Program(PGM) and am currently founding a 501c3 Golf Non-Profit at www.incomebasedgolf.com
I can probably help more and charge less than any other Golf Professional in the area.
I have had 1 "Hole-in-One"
&... I LOVE GOLF!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Knowing the students Individual needs is key as I am not teaching a golf "method". Rather, I am imparting understanding to the student that will lead them to whatever methods & movements work for their age, physical ability, physiology & handicap.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been obsessed with golf for many years and have made many key discoveries that can be helpful to the amatuer golfer. I am not only a student of the golf swing but also of its history, rules & etiquette. I have worked at 7 Atlanta golf courses over the years in various capacities in order to play unlimited golf & still play regularly at local Atlanta public courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I prefer to charge a bit less than the Local Golf-Pro as my cost of doing business lies in my knowledge and understanding and not in expensive golf simulators, launch monitors, cameras and country club memberships.
I charge $50/Hour with a 15 - 30 minute Meet & Greet prior the first hour and I consider "Golf Clinics" to be a good way to save money and have a bit more fun with your peers that are also learning the game.
How did you get started teaching?
Working endlessly on ones own golf game is far more rewarding when imparting significant discoveries to those who need help so I have always made myself available to Anyone seeking assistance.
