There is not anything about a horse I do not love !!! I have 40+ years experience with working with them and later I became a riding instructor. I have a real passion for working with riders to help them work better with their horses.
I really enjoy watching the parnetnership grow. When the light bulb goes off and they realize that they are team and not in competition with one another. It is not about a new bit will fix this or that. it's not about using your biceps to control the horse ( your partner ), it's about understanding and feel.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I do is watch their interaction with their horse from the moment they halter, this lets me know which one is excited and which one is " oh this again ". Believe it or not horses and riders get bored. There is always a way to spice things up yet get the same desired result.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have travled the United States showing horses, either as a catch rider or as an exhibitor. I have been very BLESSED to have been asked to work with Bill James ( Hall Of Fame ), that man made me realize things about myself that I could not see. I have gone through the American Horsemanship program and became a certified riding instructor. I am a message therapist to the equines :)) and have been featured in many newspapers, I have judged and plan on furthering that on a much larger scale. I coached the Ball State equestrian team both western and english for 4 years at my facility . I have managed and overseen the develpment of many equine facilities.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I want to share what I know at a reasonable price. If you are over 30 minutes away I may charge a slightly higher price for fuel. A lot of that will depend on the frequency of lessons. If it is on the regular basis, we would discuss a small monthly fee for fuel and not add anything to the lesson cost. To be clear here is an example, $30.00 - $40.00 additional cost per month in total.
How did you get started teaching?
By helping a friend, that then brought a friend to watch a lesson, that then wanted lessons and etc.... I like to think that God aligns things the way they are meant to be.
What types of students have you worked with?
Western is my prefered, however I have worked with hunter equitation riders. I myself have ridden jumping and dressage, but I do not feel qualified to instruct on it. I really should work on that more. :)).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
See how it feels, the gut never lies. This is about relationship building not only with your horse but with your instructor also !!!!! Cannot express that enough.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ok this is where I am be different. I feel that you should let it fly, be TRANSPARENT. Under those questions is fear, excitement, self doubt. Riders/owners do not want to come across as looking or sounding like beginners. Well, guess what I am still learning and happy to do so.
