Vicki C. says, "I started piano lessons with Gerald 3 years ago and just passed AIM piano exam Level 11 in both theory and performance. Gerald is a great teacher, kind (sometimes too kind), patient, dedicate and has passion in teaching music with 50 years experience. I feel I'm luck to be his student." Read more

Jared S. says, "I found Annie while searching for an experienced vocal coach. Annie always has an animated energy and lessons in her apartment leave me with such an upbeat attitude. I needed help brightening up my tone while singing and I have improved so much from my first lesson. Annie empowers and encourages me at each of my lessons to believe in and trust myself and my abilities as I improve in singing high notes. I was a very shy singer and I was too afraid to sing in front of others. Within a couple of months of lessons with Annie, I auditioned for musical theatre productions and Milwaukee Music Academy facilitated several opportunities to sing in front of an audience, including at Summerfest! Annie has a lot of experience in different styles of music to help her make private lessons feel very personal despite her numerous students!" Read more

Hi, and thanks for stopping by. I've been on this site for years, but recently, it was reset. So, all my information was erased. I teach all styles, for all different kinds of people. My lessons are extremely fun, and we use a lot of popular music, as well as classics and jazz. I teach my students to improvise as well as learn how to read music. Something that most teachers would never touch. I’ve been doing this since 1991, and I gear my lessons for each individual. Here are some review from over the years: Trevor S. David Kellen has been more than just a piano teacher for me, he's been an intelligent mentor and a respected friend. He

LAT says, "Dr. Yulia Lipmanovich tailors her teaching methods according to each individual student and his or her individual goals. Her knowledge of the different music literature and composers is vast and she imparts a style of playing as taught by her very well-known teachers. In addition, she is very patient, understanding, and acts as an excellent guide. Working with her has truly broadened my understanding of Musical Interpretation and more fundamentally, Sound. I cannot recommend studying with her enough. Whether you are returning to the piano after a long hiatus (like I did), or just beginning no matter what the age, you cannot go wrong studying with her. Finally, as a working Concert Pianist, Dr. Yulia organizes a series of Recitals, Student Concerts, Masterclasses, and is very involved in various Festivals. Her students can and are encouraged to participate and from personal experience, I can say that these supplementary activities, in addition to regular lessons, have been invaluable. " Read more

Reviews for Chicago music theory teachers

Recent success stories from people in the Chicago area.

I have known Gerald Rizzer for many years. He has a very easy going approach to teaching but on the other hand is extremely good at helping the student improve his or her performances and musical capabilities. He is especially interested in the structure of the pieces the student is working on and can improve interpretations by focusing on that structure. He is the leader of the well known Chicago Ensemble and his abilities as a professional performing musician are beyond reproach. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Yulia is very dedicated and passionate of teaching the student what is needed and necessary to know in the lesson. I've been studying with Dr. Yulia for over 2 years now which my piano performance improved quite a bit. Wouldn't recommend any other instructor except for Dr. Yulia.

Dhilanthi was an excellent piano teacher who taught my son for several years. He very much enjoyed his lessons with her. She developed his technique but also his passion for music and his expression. I would unreservedly recommend her as a piano teacher.

I found Jim to be very knowledgeable and able to put things "in my terms". As a beginner he was able to teach me how to play and read some music. He is patient yet passionate enough to push you. He's always willing to answer questions (even my most basic ones) with enthusiasm. Would definitely recommend to any level student because I've seen him play and here can jam.

Tad has been wonderful! His expertise and training really shine through the lessons with my children. He has suggested specific books that will address their areas of need while also keeping in mind their song/style interests and goals. Tad provides challenging yet engaging lessons that have already expanded their skill level. Always communicative, courteous, and punctual, I would highly recommend Tad to anyone looking for piano lessons.
