About this pro

I teach golf at Cary County Club's 100 yards and in practice area. From the full swing to short game and putting, I have helped hundreds of golfers since 1989. I have attended PGA and National Golf Foundation instruction seminars throughout the country. All lessons are aided by video analysis.

I really enjoy working with beginners and golfers trying to improve their current game. Seeing someone improve in this game is truly a wonderful experience.

Don is a gifted teacher, helping me to finally understand and execute simple improvements to my stance, my hold, and my swing that gave me control over my game and helped me finally enjoy playing golf after decades of struggles and a succession of other "instructors" who knew the game well, but had no capacity to teach. Don is capable of helping anyone at any level of the game, and has to be one of the nicest guys I have ever met.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First, I determine exactly what the student is after in taking lessons. We then develop a program to achieve that goal.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have attended PGA and National Golf Foundation Teaching Seminars. I have been teaching since 1987 through The Golf Doctor and now Cary Country Club.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

A single 45 to 60 minute lesson including video is $40

Three Lesson Packages are $100

Five Lesson Packages are $175

How did you get started teaching?

I owned The Golf Doctor a full service Custom Club and golf store in the 1980's and 1990's. At that time I was trained in teaching golf and clubfitting.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all types of golfers. I enjoy working with beginners and golfers trying to improve their current game.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I really enjoy working with our junior program at Cary CC.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Students need to find a teacher who understands their goals.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are my goals in taking lessons? How much time do I have to practice?
