About
There are a select few who are fortunate to realize early on
what profession they want to pursue during their lifetime.
I am one of those few. I have always felt that because of my
love for the game of golf, what I wanted to become was a
professional golf instructor.
This is my 27th year of teaching golf professionally.
During this time I have taught students of all ages from
6 to 85, and I have worked with all ability levels from
scratch golfers to those who have never played before.
My teaching philosophy is very basic. Keep it simple and
adapt it to an individuals abilities. Build everything in the
learning process around sound fundamentals. Establish a
good student/instructor line of communication. Keep it fun
and enjoyable. It is my belief that putting a student in an
environment where these conditions exist will create a strong
mental approach and enhance the rate of learning.
A big share of the enjoyment I get from my teaching comes
from seeing a big smile flash across the faces of my clients
when they see positive results from their efforts and the
excitement they show. This in turn gives me a huge feeling
of self satisfaction, and makes me realize just how good I
have it. This is real enjoyment.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start by having the student hit 12-15 balls at a selected target. During this process I make a prelimilnary evaluation concerning his/her set up and swing, and based on this evaluation, determine the basic fundamentals with which I begin the ongoing lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I served as a head golf coach in a large high school for
26 years prior to becoming a professional golf instructor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$35 - 1/2 hour private lesson (one on one)
$60 - 1 hour private lesson (one on one)
$70 - 1 hour semi private lesson (two people)
$150 - series of 5 1/2 hour lessons
$255 - series of 5 1 hour lessons
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching golf as a head high school golf coach, where I taught for 26 years. Following this,I was offered the opportunity to become a teaching professional at an area golf course, which I accepted. I have continued in the same capacity to the present day.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught golf professionally to students of all ages
ranging from age 6 through 85. I have worked with all
ability levels ranging from scratch golfers to those who
have never played before.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My fondest memory of my most favorite golf lesson was
a 1 hour golf lesson I gave to a blind man. This experience
left an impression on me I will never forget. I feel that I
probably benefited more from the lesson than the man did.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do your homework before you decide on an instructor. It
should be important to you that the instructor is interested
in you as a person as well as a student.
Search out individuals who have had experience with the
instructor you are considering. Talk to these individuals and
get their feelings concerning the instructor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
A major consideration should be, is the instructor going to
be an easy individual to be around both as a person and as
an instructor. Will I feel relaxed and comfortable during my
lesson, which will certainly affect the quality of the lesson.
Then, there are the standard thoughts to sort through, such
as, the number of lessons to be taken, how long a period of
time will be involved in taking the lessons, how much time
do I want per lesson, and of course, how much will the
lessons cost.
