Champion Equestrian is a hunter/jumper lesson and training program that focuses on both riding as well as horsemanship. We teach beginners through advanced. Our riders show on the local circuit here in the area, (KCPHA) as well as the A circuit. Jessica Slater is the head trainer/owner, Kansas City native, and Sandi Merenda is the assistant trainer from Chicago. What sets our program apart from others is that we truly have a team teach approach to our students. We both teach every student that comes through our barn. When Jessica is on the road at shows, Sandi will stay home most times to keep lessons going as well as the boarding facility to keep running smoothly. We love what we do, and we work hard creating a positive atmosphere that both kids and adults enjoy coming to.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We give all potential clients the option to come out and visit our facility and watch a lesson. We want to make sure that our teaching style will work for the student. When riding, we have several working students on hand to help find your way around the barn, we wel as horses to help you get ready for your lesson. We also will ask for student to wear jeans/leggings and a shoe with a heel when riding. We provide helmets.
