Gavagan Eventing
About
My name is Chrysanthi (Chrys) Gavagan and I am a event rider in Western, MA. I have been riding since the age of four, and with over 20 years experience on the back of a horse, I bring a unique approach to training my horses and riders to reach their full potential. I work with my horses to be forward thinking, relaxed and enjoy their jobs. I believe whole-heartedly that horsemanship is a partnership between you and your horse before all else. Without a connection and understanding of your horse’s concerns, emotions and ideas there can be no success in their training. I specialize in the training of young and green horses in the eventing and dressage disciplines. I am currently an active competitor at the Preliminary eventing level and at third level dressage. I am also a licensed and insured riding instructor for dressage, show jumping and cross country of any level. As an instructor, I hope to help riders develop a fundamental basis of riding, good communication between horse and rider, and strong equitation to develop the tools to be successful as a rider and competitor. As a trainer, I work with every horse to be a calm and confident partner and work to bring out the best aspects of every horse I sit on.
If you would like to ride with me, I am available for private, semi-private or group lessons as well as training rides for your horse. I teach primarily out of Fuller Horse Facility in Westhampton, MA and the surrounding area, though I am happy to travel to you for a lesson at your facility or at schooling facility.

How did you get started teaching?
I have been in the horse world since I was four and teaching was something I always wanted to persue. I began teaching when I captained Mount Holyoke's IDA team for two years and fell in love with instructing my teammated. I went on to persue my license and start a buisness as a teacher
