Sable Oak is a total equine education & recreational riding facility unique to Northern New England.Sable Oak offers complete prepartion of horse and rider from beginner to advanced for Family enjoyment, Trails and Shows. Instruction & Training is available for All breeds and disciplines. Since 1991 Sable Oak has provided students with kind and gentle lesson horses of many breeds. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Free tour & meet + greet. intro to horse handling if needed and hands on grooming, tack up and pre riding prep/groundwork. Intial work on Lunge with gymnastic exercises to improve rider safety & control.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Science in Equestrian Studies from University Of Findlay, Findlay, Ohio.
Studies include Equine Pre-Vet Medicine, Horseshoeing, Judging and breeding and teaching underclassmen.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1/2 hr riding lessons -$40per person.
1hr riding lessons - $60per person. get discount for 5 - 1hr lessons= $265
1&1/2 hr Trail Rides-$75
1&1/2 hr Beach Rides-$100. 2&1/2hr Beach Rides-$200.
Riding Camp-$55 a day(9am-4pm) or 5 days-$275
How did you get started teaching?
For me learning to teach in College led to teaching after graduation and I enjoy helping others improve and enjoy riding.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages and All levels - English and Western.

Competition at this years Maine State Championship Show garnered many wins for Sable Oak Students. A proud moment for Sable Oak for sure
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check that the intructor has teaching qualifications has insurance and kind/gentle horses to learn to ride on just like Sable Oak :) Visit and meet horses + Instructors.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Student goals, aspirations and expectations.
