Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We always start with an introductory lesson that can range from one hour to one and a half hours. This lesson includes all safety training and a brief session where our instructor gets to know your goals. Then the lesson will cover horse handling, grooming, tacking, mounting etc. Typically the lesson will include some in the saddle time discussions basic balance, confidence and control which is the foundation for future lessons.
We follow CHA curriculum so each student knows what to expect and has a checklist of lesson plans before moving on to more advanced classes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our instructors are CHA certified which required rigorous training (for more information about their certification process please visit http://www.cha-ahse.org/)
All of our instructors are avid riders themselves and immersed in the industry. They can offer their own experiences being working students under top nationally recognized trainers as well as their own horse owning/riding experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Group lessons (3 or more riders): $40
Semi-Private (2 riders): $50
Private (1 rider only): $65
1.5 hour lessons also available! Special needs lessons can also are available!
How did you get started teaching?
Each of our story is a little different, but we all got into it for the same reason: Our love of horses.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student learn and have that "aha" moment in the saddle and watch as their passion for horses grows.
What types of students have you worked with?
We range from children as young as 4 to adults as old as 70+! All levels and experience levels are welcome.
We do some outreach with local scouts and have training to accomodate special needs students and can provide therapeutic lessons/intruction as well.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do you research! Watch your instructor ride and teach lessons...see if their teaching style aligns with your learning style.
