About

I specialize in "deep dive" career counseling (career transitions, leadership skills, entrepreneurial efforts, "managing your manager," resumes, interviewing skills, and networking) and in emotion-management skills (mindfulness practice, stress reduction, focusing exercises, flow strategies, all designed to help you "get into the zone"). Some appreciate that I was a hiring manager for a Fortune 500 computer company; others appreciate that I was a licensed clinical social worker for a decade. I bring all these skills to the table.

Seeing my clients relax as they achieve goals and their confidence builds. I love to see my clients make progress in their lives.

Frequently asked questions

Provide a free half-hour consultation meeting. If the client signs on, provide a two-hour orientation, which includes goal setting methods, a strategic planning exercise, an introduction to two handy emotion-management skills, and a sample one-hour coaching meeting. If the student is satisfied, we move on to weekly or every-other-week meetings, which are typically one hour in length.

Trained supervisor and hiring manager in a Fortune 500 computer company. Holder of a Master in Clinicial Social Work degree (experience in counseling people and advanced skills in emotion management).

There are many options. In general, people pay for a 3-month block of time (it's cheaper, you get more services, and it sets up a good amount of structure for reaching goals), or people pay month to month to month. The most commonly purchased package is $600 for 3 months (which would include the two hour orientation and seven one-hour meetings to be scheduled as one pleases) or $240 for 3 meetings to be used within one month's time.

I explored career transitioins to move away from software technical writing (where I was also developing and delivering diversity training workshops), and I got my MSW degree with the goal of having a private practice devoted to goal attainment and emotional skill building.

A very, very wide variety, from teens to people in their sixties. I help people with any type of goals (weight loss, dating, stress reduction, saving money), but my specialty is helping with career issues. I do not work with couples, families, groups, or children younger than high school age.
