Mike Dickson Golf

Mike Dickson is the new MCG Master Instructor at MCG Golf Academy at Little Bennett Golf Course in Clarksburg, Maryland. Mike has been instructing golf for more than 20 years and studying under some of the best in the industry. Mike was the Head Instructor for 11 years at Congressional Country Club and is now the Master Instructor at MCG Golf Academy at Little Bennett. Michael’s philosophy is a coaching style that develops all the skills a golfer needs to be successful in playing golf including technique, course management, emotional control, and purposeful practice. The traditional model of one-on-one technique-based lessons focuses on trying to perfect the golf swing and typically lacks attention on improving all the skills to become a great player.

Mike was recognized by Golf Magazine in July 2021 as a Rising Star Instructor for their Top 100 Teacher to Watch List. Mike was awarded the 2016 MAPGA Teacher of the Year for his efforts and dedication to growing the game. In 2020, Golf Range Association of America awarded Mike as one of the top 100 Growing the Game in America. Mike has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Best Young Instructors in America for 2016/17 and 2018/19. Mike has been recognized by his peers in Golf Digest as one of the Best Instructors in the State of Maryland since 2015. Mike strives to share his knowledge with his students and his fellow PGA Professionals with the goal to continue grow the game and give back to a game that has given him so much.

Mike began to change his teaching model in 2015 by making a shift away from just individual instruction to coaching and group instruction using the Will Robins RGX model. The Scoring Method model helps a player learn all the important aspects of being a complete player.

Mike is originally from Cortland, Ohio in Northeast Ohio and graduated from the PGM program at Ferris State University in 2002. He moved to the Washington, DC area in 2004 to begin working at Congressional Country Club. He currently lives in Frederick, Maryland with his wife Amber and their two boys Cole (7), Owen (4) and new daughter Vivienne. If he isn’t busy cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Mike can be found kayaking or spending time with his family.
