About this pro

We have experienced, fun instructors who can make your journey as a rider positive, safe and successful.  We have a limited number of lesson horses who we call our “Professors”.  They’re quiet, sensible and very well trained so are great to learn on!  We have some wonderful horses available for part lease, if you find you want to ride more than once a week!

We’ve been educating riders and horsemen for 30 years this year.  We still love what we do, and surround ourselves with staff that feel the same.  It’s a wonderful experience sharing our knowledge and love for the horse!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

All our new student lessons are private.  We have only a very small amount of group lessons. You need the instructors undivided attention as you are learning.

Students must have a full hour lesson at their first appointment with us.  We provide suitable helmet, equipment and professor horse.  You will learn where to find everything, how to groom and tack. Your mounted time will be as close to a half hour as possible. If you have experience grooming and tacking, your mounted time will be longer.

Should you return for more lessons (most do, as we are a fun bunch!) you will be expected continue getting more comfortable catching, grooming and tacking up your horse with a little and then no assistance.  At this point you may schedule half hour lessons instead of hours.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our instructors have formal training and certifications from the British Horse Society and the United States Eventing Association Instructor Certification Program.  We have extensive safety training as well as over 80 years combined professional level experience.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

What types of students have you worked with?

We teach people who have never sat on a horse, all the way up to international level competitors.  All riders are treated the same, with empathy and encouragement!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure they’re available on your schedule, that the lesson horses have extensive training, that the instructors are certified and have up to date safety training (CPR/First Aid) and listen to your goals.
