About
North Star Stables is an inclusive riding facility offering able-bodied lessons and therapeutic riding. Our foundation is the principles of classical dressage, we don't yank and pull the horse around. We believe everyone has the ability to ride well for the health of the horse.
Our gorgeous facility is located near Marshall. Riding lessons are available for ages 2-adult, therapeutic riding for ages 4-adult. Scholarships for therapeutic riding are available. For the safety of our horses, our current weight limit is 180 pounds. We are certified and insured.
I am trained to break down tasks into smaller, easy to manage, parts and adapt to the individual needs and learning styles of each rider. I love seeing the pieces come together as students progress. I work well with people with anxiety in the saddle and assist in finding balance on horseback to overcome fears and achieve goals.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We highly encourage new students to come visit us before registering. We’d love to give you a tour, introduce you to the horses, answer all your questions, and show you our lesson process. Once registered we start with the foundation of horsemanship - grooming, tacking, understanding the horse, and safety. Expect the first lesson to be about 1/2 horsemanship and 1/2 riding. At the first lesson we evaluate muscular strengths to make a plan of progress in the saddle. Students may not move into trotting if we need to focus on balance and core strength. We will adapt and refocus as needed. Safety is our number one priority and individual attention is given to how that looks for each student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a true beliver in continuing education for professionals and continue to become a better horsewoman by training my young warmblood under internationally-renowened Britta Johnston. I also work closely with my therapuetic riding instructor mentor, Saebra Pippoly of Hoof Falls and Footfalls, to hone my teaching skills. Once Covid restrictions are lessened I will be able to do my final test for my full therapuetic riding instructor certification.
