About
I am able to personalize a students riding experience after teaching the very first lesson. My love for the sport of riding and my care of my happy horses is evedent. Here at out of the box stables you will get 1 on 1 assistance with haltering your horse for your lesson, you will also learn how to groom the horse and tack it up ( means putting the saddle and bridle on). The student will also un tack the horse and turn it back out to its field. I am able to coach my students at local competitions, if that is there desire. Here at Out of the Box Stables we have a all weather footing outdoor lighted riding arena, so we are able to ride in most weather conditions. We also have a pre-Novice X-country jumping course, and a show jumping-stadium course on the property. If you are coming for a lesson after work and need to change into your riding clothes we have a large bathroom-changing room with a shower for your convenience.
I am passionate and energetic, I enjoy teaching students to learn how to be confident riders who can safely tack up there horse's, mount up and get riding. I love to see the progression in there ability to ride out on a trail ride knowing they have complete control over there horse or pony. I also take pride in my students when they are competing, I have also coached student's at shows from 3 years old to 63 years old. No matter the age they are all smiles at the end of the day.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A first lesson for the student will first get a helmet thats fits them properly observe me catching the horse, leading the horse to the stable to groom and tack up. We will go the the all weather footing riding arena and learn how to mount up on the horse. After adjusting your stirupps to fit you, I will then demonstrate how to hold the reins in your hands and go over your leg position You will learn to do some leg exercises while mounted on the horse. If the student is progressing in the walk it is possible for them to try a trot. It does depend on how each student learns and if they are confident.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started riding ponies when I was 5 years old, a friend had 2 ponies that lived at the end of her street on a small farm, I would walk to her house and then we would walk down to the farm where the ponys were kept, and after we cleaned the stalls we were able to ride the ponies for a bit. That's what started my life long dream. I asked my parents if I could take riding lessons where my friend Andi took lessons, and I remember my mom saying she will probably stick with it. Through middle school and high school I continued to take lessons, and got my first pony when I was 13. I joined the United States Pony club when I was 15, and was active in all aspects of the sport, show Jumping, Eventing Rallies Dressage, practical, stable management, minor ailments and some veterinary care. Howard county Iron Bridge Hounds pony club. After graduation 1982 I went to a Riding Academy in Somerset England, Porlockvale Equitation Centre, and received my British horse Society's Instructors certificate, and Degree in Horsemastership.. I have competed in 3 phase Eventing successfully on my horse to the Preliminary level. I have coached my students at local shows and Events and still do presently. I have attended clinics with Olympic riders such as Bruce Davidson, Stephen Bradly, Grant Schnidmean, and also trained with dressage judges. I am still Eventing locally in pre novice level Events, I have a small farm with different types and breeds of horses. I have spent over 30 years re schooling Thoroughbreds off of the race track. I also owned and bred a Hungarian warmblood stallion for 20 years, raising and training several of his off spring.
