Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We invite you to visit us and talk about your goals, meet our instructor and see others lesson. We then can schedule an evaluation lesson to see where you are at and what we will need to work with you on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our instructor, Dana Wille, has dedicated herself to the sport and the art of instruction. From age 4, she began riding and shortly thereafter competing. She has spent the last 15 years riding and competing at the National AA level, earning ribbons and top honors at some of the most prestigious events a young rider can imagine. Finishing her junior career with over 40 year end awards and titles. She devoted herself to learning from some of the best in the sport, including: Don Stewart, Aaron Vale, David Beisel and Polly Howard to name a few. Training with USEF "R" judges and course designers to understand what they are looking for, so she could educate herself as a rider and trainer. We are an USHJA accredited Riding Academy and Safe Sport Certified. She is passing on her knowledge and passion for the sport to those that want to learn to be a better rider, a winner and a champion in the sport. Whether you board with us, trailer-in or just want to meet us at the show, we promise you will find value in our time together.
We also sponsor "College Day" at the HJAM show series and coach the Dexter High School Equestrian Team for Equitation and Jumping.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
You can book lessons online at our website, all pricing is available there.
What types of students have you worked with?
Our youngest is 4 years old and oldest is 71.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check their record on USEF.org. If they don't have more then a 100 page show record they won't have the experience you need. Look for someone that has competed at the senior levels of the sport on the AA circuit which is the most competitive. Also make sure if you are doing hunters, jumpers or equitation that they have been a national competitor that has achieved national titles in those disciplines.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time can I commit?
Here is the resources I have, what can I realistically do for that amount. Showing in this sport is expensive and training 2-3 days a week is a must if you want to be competitive at the shows.
