About

I've laid out what you can expect for the first couple of lessons, including facilities and economics.

In short, my golf teaching approach includes:

1) body movement training drills borrowed from 'Milo Lines Golf' and 'Elite Golf' YouTube channels [we are all lockstep in this certain methodology], plus

2) hand/wrist movement drills learned from my original mentor, Peter Croker, PGA-Australia [Croker Golf System - for which I am certified to teach].

The drills are the fastest way to ingrain the true movements and "feels" we need in order to have a powerful, repeatable and dependable golf swing.

The drills build from simple to a bit more complex - but not to worry, the drills never really get complex per se because we build up step by step into the more involved movement patterns.

Ideally, here are how the first couple of lessons would go, and beyond in general.

First Lesson: Key Concepts And Key Movement Patterns:

1) the body's key movement pattern drills to feel how the body action is the source of motion for the club, and

2) the key hand/wrist movement patterns that marry up with what the club "wants" to do, and

3) how the hand/wrist action matches up with how the body moves.

Second Lesson: Further Honing Body and Hand/Wrist Movement Drills AND Starter Drills For Matching Up Body Action With Hand/Wrist Action.

- I introduce more advanced drills to further ingrain isolated movement patterns, AND more drills focusing on matching up body action with hand action.

- We start hitting more balls to understand more precisely how the club face squares up to the ball AND comes into the ball with a fairly shallow angle of attack while still compressing the ball for proper backspin and flight trajectory.

In future lessons we would continue to work on:

1) honing the matchup between the body action and hand/wrist action, and

2) honing in on that matchup in terms of focusing in precisely on how to get the club face interaction at impact needed to hit the ball straight with good trajectory.

We would also start to hone in on the "feels" that we need to have in our pre-shot routine so we get good results on the golf course.

Future lessons would also cover chipping and putting [probably at Copper Ridge Golf Club's practice green in Davison off of Atherton Rd.].

===========================

Between lessons I provide lots of visual content - I text a number of one-minute videos to my students with a note...below are example texts:

"1-min Milo GREAT - exact rhythm-pattern with club head lagging going back AND lagging going down-forward."

https://youtube.com/shorts/tOK0XmJ8eIs?si=Rm1W9HLNZvvNxKTS

"Good visual - interesting really how quiet the hips are relative to the exaggeration drills we do - it does come down to a nuanced move to create that little bit of extra torque (differential between upper and lower body) into the transition-stage squat that creates that last bit of coil coming into the shot that simply uncoils and makes it all look so flowing."

https://youtube.com/shorts/igNvJPg7StE?si=jYIQ3NTFptR4azuZ

=========================

Now I'll address scheduling a lesson and confirming economics

- then I'll provide my own YouTube videos in a separate message along with more videos from Milo and Elite [Post Script].

Lessons would typically be at Copper Ridge Golf Club, or a couple of other such facilities in the greater Davison/Grand Blanc/Lapeer area.

Lessons are $70 for 75 minutes; or $75 for 90 minutes.

Communications [text, email and phone conversations] between lessons are free and virtually unlimited.

Feel free to reach me with any questions per the contact information below.

Kind Regards,

Ted Williams

POST SCRIPT:

If you are interested in a deeper dive into the technique I teach, I've provided that type of information below.

I use and teach a blending of Croker's technique with the methodologies of 'Elite Golf' and 'Milo Lines Golf' [latter two teachers are in lockstep - video links further down below].

Now for my YouTube videos.

Note - there is A LOT of "feel versus real" going on here in my videos in terms of the training exercises - lots of exaggeration which we see in many tour pros in their training routines, including Tiger Woods:

That is, you won't see these exaggerated movements in my real golf swing, but I am feeling the movements that I am training in with those "unreal" exercises.

Ted had great communication right from the start. He sent us (my two boys and I) videos to watch ahead of time so we would have a better understanding of what he would be teaching us. He explains the connection between the golf swing and the body in a very understandable way. He was flexible with his time and the place we met for lessons. We have a second lesson coming up and we are all looking forward to it. We are doing the drills he taught us so we can be ready to advance for our lessons.
We are very happy with Ted and highly recommend him.

Met Ted for a golf lesson to go over how to impact the ball. We did a few drills to feel the correct takeaway and where your hands should be right after impact along with internal hip movement. Ted is very knowledgeable on the game and feel this lesson really helped start the year of better.

In just my first lesson I gained a clear big picture understanding of Crokers techniques and I can perform the first step drill I need to practice at home until my next lesson. Ted is professional and knowledgeable, yet very easy to follow and interact with.

It was great working with Ted, he is very knowledgeable and patient. After working with Ted for a few hours it has changed the way I understand the golf swing. Ted taught me some great training drills that are easy to do at home over the fall and winter that replicate and hone the feelings associated with key moves in Croker’s technique. I’ve been playing for years as just a mediocre golfer, but with Ted’s guidance I feel like I’m on track to a much better golf game.

    Frequently asked questions

I have the student hit a few balls, maybe a dozen, just letting them relax and warm up.

Then we engage in conversation around their current golf swing - I encourage the student to tell me what they are trying to do in order to produce good shots [which will serve to engage the student in the deeper conversations to follow].

Then I hit a few balls to demonstrate an effectively tension-free repeatable swing that consistently strikes the ball in such a way that it flies to the target on the proper trajectory.

Then we talk about some of the differences between our swings.

With a big picture view in place, then the details can be addressed in context.

The first detail we dive into is the interaction between the club face and the ball - we cover the face-ball interaction that tends to result from their swing, and how that interaction affects the ball's flight.

Then we cover the club face-ball interaction that is produced by my swing and the associated ball flight results.

At this point, it often becomes self-evident to the student what swing changes will be needed in order to get the club face to interact with the ball in a way that will produce the ball flight results they desire.

Then I introduce training drills to begin making those changes.

After going through the above steps, the student really sees the solid reasoning behind the changes we are seeking to make and is therefore more receptive to those efforts even though they will often need to make movements that go against their intuition.

You see, I'll never ask you to do anything that is more athletically difficult than what you are otherwise inclined to do - the new movements will be different, but not difficult.

My teaching approach gets real results for real golfers of all kinds; my approach includes:

    > helping students to clearly understand and perform the counter-intuitive movements that are required to get the ball-striking results they seek.

    > using athletic movements the student is already familiar with and relating how those movements apply to the golf swing.

    > using simple examples of physical law that everyone is familiar with, and relating how physical law applies to the golf swing in a way that makes the swing nearly effortless/tension-free to produce consistently solid ball-striking.

    > working with the student to find the right blend of techniques so they can develop a swing that fits their abilities.

    Additional:

I have been teaching-coaching for about 4 decades, starting at Cranbrook Institute teaching tennis at 16 years old [I'll get to the golf in a minute here...].

I earned USPTA certification and taught tennis professionally until I earned B.S./Bio-chemistry and M.B.A./Finance degrees.

During that period I also taught golf to many of my tennis students.

I will go on here to list my athletic accomplishments outside of golf - I'm trying to let you know that since launching my business career that golf became my passion and I applied the same discipline and introspection to becoming an accomplished golfer, and teacher, as I did to my other sports.

    I am an accomplished athlete:

    > earning All-State Honors as a high school basketball player, and

    > member of a State Championship [Class A] runner-up basketball team.

    > earned top ten tennis ranking in Southeastern Michigan Tennis Association as junior.

    > earned athletic scholarship to Division II university where I played 4 years [#1 singles and #1 doubles last 3 of 4 years].

I know how to play various sports at a high level, including golf which is and has been my passion for several decades.

And I know how to teach and communicate to various student types - whether advanced or beginner.

    Basics around engaging my services:

    + Private Lesson [75 minutes]: $70.

    + Semi-private lessons [90 minutes]: $90 for 2 students.

+ FREE between-lesson communication [inc phone calls].

    + FREE pre-lesson and post-lesson training videos.

+ On-time $58 purchase of Peter Croker's Ebook with over 40 short step-by-step training videos:

+ I free-lance; teaching YEAR-round at facilities in Genesee, Oakland and Lapeer counties.

Peter's online academy is a powerful supplement to your lessons with me.

During the winter months [Nov 1 - April 1] I teach mainly at: > Lake Nepessing Golfland's [I-69 Exit 53] lit outdoor range from heated tees [open 7 days per week 7:30AM - 8PM] and a couple of other facilities in the greater Flint area.

During good weather months, I teach at various facilities in in Oakland, Genesee and Lapeer counties, for instance [including but not limited to]: > Heather Highlands Golf Club [I-75 Exit 98 E. Holly Rd.] > Jewel of Grand Blanc [on Perry Road] > Sieferts Golf Center/Range [US-23 Exit 88 Grand Blanc Rd.] > Lake Nepessing Golfland [I-69 Exit 53]

See above re "What education, training..."

See above re "What education, training..."

In short, I've worked with students as young as 4 years old.  I've worked with kids [typically 8 years and older], and all ages, genders and experience levels [beginners, advanced beginners to accomplished golfers].

I always enjoy seeing my students improve and gain a new appreciation and passion for the great game of golf.

    Recent students have:

    > in one case, a student was able to continue playing golf because we both improved his results and changed his swing to alleviate fairly serious shoulder pain.

    > in another case, a student was so bound up with mechanical thoughts he didn't even enjoy golf anymore - in just 1 lesson he went from thinking his way through his swing to really feeling his swing.  We did this by getting his hands and body to instinctively respond to the momentum of the club head [so he could employ his reflexive fine motor skills to direct that momentum with fine instinctive movements to get the club face to consistently strike the ball solidly].

Beware signing up for a "package deal" where you pay a large fee up front covering several or more future lessons.

I go lesson by lesson - if you aren't getting better then quit anytime.

See also my response to "What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?"

You should feel comfortable with a professional's response to this question [per above]: "What is your typical process for working with a new customer?" AND the "Introduction"

Does it make sense to you? Can you see yourself going through their process? Watch videos showing how and what they teach [I have my own FB video posts and Youtube videos available accordingly].

Plus I have a number of Vlog [articles with my videos] you can reference on MyGolfingStore website, for instance:
