About
PGA Member and USGTF Master teaching Professional. At Lock Golf Academy we believe that each student is an individual, and has differing abilities to learn and progress. We concentrate on understanding the student and assisting with the learning of their ideal golf swing. To accelerate this learning process, Our Instructors will establish a perfect set-up position and then work to perfect a swing that compliments the student’s body type and time commitment for practicing the preferred swing. Using the latest Video Analysis systems and Training aids you will hear and feel what is being taught and see what you look like using slow motion Video Analysis.
Being exposed to a broad range of styles and studying their effectiveness with different types of students, Lock Golf Academy instructors began to settle in on a core teaching philosophy that embraced the individuality of every golfer’s uniquely authentic swing; a philosophy that establishes that there is no one way to swing the club that is the right way for all people.
Fundamental swing development and or major golf swing changes require extensive practice along with professional instruction. Practice, however, does not make perfect; it makes permanent. Therefore what you practice is critical to your success. The fundamental drills and practice methods along with repetition we instruct will help ensure that the student’s knowledge and understanding of the golf swing will improve making the game more enjoyable. Lock Golf Academy looks forward to helping you improve your game.
I enjoy helping people with there golf swings. Teaching Golf is my passion. The look on some one face when they have acomplished a swing change and made perfect contact with a ball is one of the best feelings in the world.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I access the needs of the student, then come up with a lesson plan to meet the goals of the student. The customer chooses the type of lesson that they would like. I perform the lessons ay my Golf Academy in South Lyon Mi at Cattails Golf Club or at Total Sport Farmington
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a PGA Member & USGTF Master teaching professional I have been a Golf Teaching Professional for 12 Years. Most of my training has come ftom the PGA & USGTF, but also have learned alot about the game from my father and grandfather who were also teaching professionals. I have also attended many teaching Summits and seminars over the years for continuing education
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes we do have standard pricing for adults and Juniors.
All pricing for Private and Group lessons can be reviewed at www.lockgolfacademy.com
How did you get started teaching?
I got started in teaching about 12-13 years ago when a friend of mine that I was working with asked me to help me out with his golf game after work for an upcoming golf outing. We did like 2-3 1/2 hour lessons, and he was off and running with the game. While I was at the range giving the lesson to my close friend another person asked me for my number to help her out and it just kind of expanded from there. The following fall I starteted the certifications.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels of students from beginner to accomplished players and almost everything in between. I feel that my teaching style works good for all skill levels. Beginner players usally need basic fundamental training and accomplished golfers need mostly just fine tuning of the skills that they already have.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fond anytime my students have major success in golf from winning golf outing, to Jr Tournaments. Nothing makes me more proud than to here a student is acceling in a sport. Recently a student that I have been working with since he was 12 years old just received a scholarship for golf. This made me very happy to know that his hard work and dedication to the game will help pay for his education.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think the best advice would be make sure that the teacher student personality is a good match. In addition to that I would say dont be sucked in by technolgy. Using Video & Technolgy for teaching is excellent, but there is no replacing a knowledgable golf pro that know the mechanics of the golf swing. I feel that with some teaching establishments to much emphasis is being put on technolgy to teach the game and not enough emphasis on just teaching the basis fundamentals of the golf swing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I feel that the best way for a student to communicate his needs to the Golf Professional is to lay out a set of goals that they would like to accomplish, and a realistic time frame to meet these goals.
