David has been the best instructor I have come across, and it’s not even close. I have taken lessons from 40 year head pros, and they don’t come close.
David has all the technical terms in his arsenal, but he just seems to always find the most relatable way to pass it along. Often I struggle with teachers telling me confusing wordy phrases, such as coming in steep, not parallel enough, etc etc. David knows how to get the best out of you, giving you fundamental concepts in a way you can actually grasp and that makes sense.
Articulate, patient and just an all around incredible coach, he finds out what works best for you and he adapts to YOU. Not forcing you to adapt to his instructions. This is a lost art among many old school PGA instructors.
Looking at my progress, as I only began swinging a club 7 months ago, I am forever in his debt. After taking a lesson or 2 from some other Club Pros, it’s clear to me I found the best kept secret in Oakland County.
If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would.

I have been too many, many lessons from various instructors. Dave was by far and away the best instructor I have ever visited. If you just want to get better at golf Dave is your guy, he’s not going to try to get you to reinvent your swing, he will bring the best out of what you already have. His knowledge of the golf swing is incredible, with just minor adjustments to my flawed swing, Dave got me playing the best golf of my entire life. If you are looking to get better at golf, or if your stuck in a rut and can’t figure out why you used to be good and all of a sudden your not, Dave is your guy. I would give him 10 stars if I could. Thanks Dave!

David is an exceptional golf instructor. He improved my handicap by 10 strokes! We immediately connected as he is a phenomenal listener, very patient and a great overall coach. He corrected so many areas of my game including playing strategy. He truly has a gift for teaching. He is my preferred and only golf instructor since I played with him in a Member/Golf Pro Scramble event at my club last summer. I learned more in that 4 hours than any previous instruction I had received over the past 3 years. Dave is just a pleasure to be around...very professional, friendly and he will no doubt earn his PGA card due to his exemplary work ethic and excellent playing ability.

Dave is a great teacher and will help you the simplest things with your swing that will help you immensely the next round of 18. He is very patient and very detailed oriented. His professional knowledge and cheeky wit are a wonderful combo to learn this game. I always love working with Dave, I would highly recommend.

    Frequently asked questions

Via email, phone or text I like to establish short and long term goals and have the student list 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses.

Range work preferred first couple sessions to establish new material yet I am a strong believer that most students benefit from on course playing lessons for the most effective learning occurs when we can recall a motion / memory and that becomes strengthened when we're seeing actual consequences.

From +4 HDCP former Michigan golfer to brand new beginners and almost everyone in between.

Last fall a student decided it was time to learn golf. He is in the golf industry and had never played before but bought himself brand new Taylormade clubs and set out to get good. He did not play any sports growing up and had very poor hand - eye coordination.

Where to begin? He wants to hit 300 yard bombs and buttery flop shots out of the gate and it was up to me to set the practice regiment and manage his expectations.

We began around the greens to establish a feel for requisite tempo / mechanics and just as he was beginning to make solid contact the winter came and we had to move to the indoor simulators.

Over the winter and with the help of the information simulators provide I was able to explain to the student why a shot was poor and eventually he would know why before I had a chance to say anything!

From 3 months prior he didn't know how to grip a club and then he was correctly diagnosing his own swing problems. This was a great feeling. Now he could practice on his own and understand why the ball is flying the way it does and make the necessary adjustments.

This spring as the snow melted we began hitting balls outside again and each session advanced faster than I anticipated. This is all due to the student absorbing as much information as possible and being able to quickly apply the new concepts.

Few days ago he went out to play his courses first 3 holes. Which I know to be a very difficult stretch. He went par, par, bogey.  He was jubilant. He's now felt what we've all felt, that indescribable joy of a pure golf shot that will hopefully have him continue to learn and play this great game the rest of his life.
